your looking for ska. ska came before reggae and punk. it went through 3 waves, the 50s, 80s, and 90s. first wave - bob marleys early stuff, burning spear, skatalites, desmond dekker second wave - specials, slackers, toasters, untouchables third wave (more likely to like this one) - streetlight manifesto, mustard plug, catch 22, pilfers, slackers, long beach dub allstars noFX is NOT ska. thought so long and thanks for the shoes did have a little ska inspiration in it.
Trogan Records have lots of CD compilations that are good. They have a skinhead Reggae double CD box thing that is quite good. and heaps of others
Damian Marley has come out with a new song called Welcome To Jamrock. Its the best song he has ever did so check that out.
Pepper and Slightly Stoopid are easily the two best reggae/rock bands out there. Easy Star All-Stars' Dub side of the moon is a really good pink floyd reggae cover album, you should check that out
Check out Ziggy Marley, Peter Tosh, and (contrary to the opinion of people on this site) Sublime (if you havn't already).
If you looking for Reggae/Rock you should check out O.A.R. Theyre not reggae in traditional sense but they have a good reggae feel to a lot of their songs.
