this started out as a recipe for sabbat cake in gerina dunwich's candlelight spells, but i've altered it so much it might be consider an entirely different recipe. 2 1/4 cups whole wheat pastry flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground corriander seed 1 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1 1/4 cup yogurt 1 1/2 cup honey 1 egg 1/2 cup melted butter, or applesauce 1 teaspoon almond extract 3 drops sweet orange essential oil preheat oven to 325 degrees. grease & flour a bundt cake pan. sift dry ingredients into large mixing bowl. stir in yougurt, honey, egg, butter or applesauce, and flavorings. mix until batter is smooth. pour into pan. bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour - watch the cake carefully, because anything made with honey will burn very quickly. cake is done when cake tester or knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. cool 20 minutes on a rack before unmolding.
Thanks, sounds great. Have all ingredients except pastry flour. Guess I'll be making it this week-end.
Yay! I wanted this recipe! Did you post about this in the Fashion & Crafts forum about a birthday party? Thanks! Yummy! xoxo cortnee
yeah, that was me. the cake fell coming out of the oven - too many excited kids/cats in the kitchen - but it was tasty anyway. we made a simple icing of powdered sugar & cocoa, and drizzled it on, topping it with rainbow sprinkles. next up is damien's birthday in october: plans are for lime-flavored chocolate cake topped with coconut. i'll try to remember to post that if the plans don't change.
