I've been using disposable cus i get free ones in this parenting group im in, however, ive been having a problem with my son peeing through them all the time. I've been using dry bottoms, luvs, and pampers. All 3 have been giving me this problem. I'm trying huggies now, to see if they'll hold. Has anyone had this problem? I'm changing him alot, so its not like im letting them fill up or anything. Is it cus theyre cheap? or he just pees alot? my friends use them and they dont have this problem. I've thought about switching to cloth, but im thinking that it would be just as bad or worse, cus he would soak them up good and it would be a bigger mess to clean up. I have to change his sheets and clothes constantly. any suggestions? should i start buying the expensive kind or what? help!
How often do you change him? I was changing diapers like crazy with my newborns. Like every hour to two hours-depending on when they ate. Cloth diapers would help in the respect that you would notice the wetness sooner and then change him sooner. They don't whisk the pee away like disposables do.
In my experiance with disposable dipes that has never happened. I've had poo blowouts, but no pee leakage. I haven't used disposable very much though. I've been using cloth for well over 3 years. Hemp is my all time favorite. It's so absorbant!!! Do a quick google for "cloth diapers" and you'll get more info then you ever thought you'd want on the subject
Another thought...are they the right size for him? I can see some leakage happening out the legs if they're a little too big.
The exact same thing was happening to me. No matter what brand it was he still managed to leak. I moved him to the next size up and it stopped. So maybe try that...
I always used cloth with my babies. But no matter what you use, newborns, who always pee and poop VERY frequently, and have kind of small legs, will always leak. It is a given with babies. I always put a rubber with flannel covered bed pad, with a towel over it UNDER my babies in our bed. (or on the occasion they were napping in their own bed.) Otherwise, I'd be changing sheets ALL THE TIME. I found some nice nylon pants to put over the cloth and even some nice button diaper covers to help. But newborns WILL leak.
This might sound silly, but, which way is his penis laying? My son is 6 and still in diapers because he has special needs and I have to make sure his little penis is pointing down or his diapers are sure to leak. Its always been that way. I think my nephew was the same way when he was a baby.
Oh, good point! (Pun intended.) I forgot about the pee angling thing. LOL!!!! You gotta point that little water gun DOWN.
Oh yeah...I remember that from all my babysitting excursions....If his pee-pee is pointing up, you're gonna have problems...
well, ive tried going one step up on the size, and i did actually point his pee pee down, and it just leaks all down his back! i guess its normal, then. I might try to put something over them too.
i just dont know... I used cloth as a baby, and i hated the feeling of it. Its probably heavier too, isnt it? plus it would be more to wash and i like to just pop his old diapers in the pail and forget about it.
But if your changing/washing the sheets and his clothes then it'll actually be less work What's one more load of laundry everyother day
Oh and if you slap a fleece liner (just a strip of fleece you've cut, no sewing required) on top of the dipe, it wicks the moisture away from his parts and keeps him nice and dry. Even overnight!!!
i had that problem with luvs and huggies its not cuz there cheap its just that the anti leak part doesn't work that well. i use the store brand diapers and they work great they dont leak or nothing. go to walmart and get white cloud diapers an try them out once and see if they leak.
i started out with white cloud newborn diaps actually, (i forgot to mention that brand). Those were ok, sometimes. Ive actually been having a better time with pampers.
