Absinthe

I recently made some home-made absinthe and it is the most god awful tasting stuff!! Anyone ever taste it? Is there anything you can mix it with so it's tolerable?

 

ick! dont even try to make it yourself, it will taste nasty! buy some, and make sure its the good stuff!

 

There isn't any place in America you buy Absinthe is there?? Cuz if so.... maaaaan i gotta get ahold of it. Everything that I've read about it, you can't really make it on your own, it's far too dangerous and does not mix right so ends up tasting like shit or catching on fire.

 

Oh yeh thats a point, its illegal in america, come to europe! lol

I guess you're right! The only reason home-made absinthe was so appealing to me is because all the ingredientes are easyily available here in the states, and needless to say a bottle of absinthe costs 100 bucks and upwards

Now I have a liter of "absinthe" that i can't drink!! AHHH!!! HELP~!!! LOL

 

lol, ouch! you could use it for de-icer, or maybe oven cleaner lol, how 'bout if you put lots of sugar in it? might make it drinkable i s'pose...:H

 

Someone bought me a few bottles of Absinthe from Prauge. Let me tell you, i have NEVER had such far out trippy LSD type dreams in my life! lol

I felt rotten afterwards........but it didn't stop me from polishing off the bottles over the course of the weekend! lololol. I totally see why Van Goth cut his frigging ear off while supping it! lolol

 

I heard they put hallucinugens in absinthe, that's why it's banned in the U.S. Is this true?

 

It's 'cause it contains wormwood which may or may not have hallucinagenic (sp?) effects. It's never actually been proven to have any "negative" effects but because it's similar to THC (the active chemical in cannabis) it's illegal in America. Wormwood traditionally was used for medicinal purposes so it cant be that bad lol

Actually the most common way of drinking absinthe is mixing it with water, like 1/3 (1 absinth, 3 water). You will now enjoy the pleasures of a good absinthe (as they say!, have never tried it lol^^)

BTW, I have the plant I live in Portugal, there is Portugal absinthe on the main portuguease supermarket...lol
