Music today is fucked. The only thing that they do today is rapp and hiphop which, is the most meaningless music there is. Almost all good havymetal comes from the 80's. Punk and prog(dont know if its called that in english) is from the late 70's. And most of all, the greatest music there is the rock from the later half of the 60's and the early 70's. You might not agree whit me but this is my opinion. Peace, dude.
Couldn't you put your opinion in one of the other dozens of topics where people state this exactly the same opinion? Most of the time stated by people who didn't searched good enough for nowdays music of their taste.
A lot of music in the charts really sucks, but if you look for good music, you'll find it. You just have to look a little better (there's a lot more music made nowadays than what you constantly hear on the radio)
Look beyond MTV and BET and the mainstream songs that the radio plays and you might be surprised. Theres a lot of good music out there and times change. If everything was the same as the music put out in the 60's, 70's and 80's, well then my friend, music would just be lame and repetitive.
people just listen to what the major labels spoonfeed them. thats because these days the "alternative" music is just another marketing category. its all played very safe. people just dont seem to bother searching for good music much any more. they just wait till they read about it in rolling stone magazine by which time the thing has already been and gone.
I could name 10 bands that put out albums in the last 10 years that were excellent. And none of them were hip-hop or rap. 1. TooL 2. The Mars Volta 3. Thought Industry 4. Blind Melon 5. Jeff Buckley 6. Sugartooth 7. A Perfect Circle 8. Deftones 9. Unida 10. Type O Negative I don't care about what your opinion of these bands are, the point is that I could name 10 of them.
but then again, as I look at all of this again, none of those bands would really be considered "mainstream" maybe APC, but the radio only touched the surface of what they did.
I agree that most mainstream bands today suck. (well... basically all of them) But there are good new bands out, most of them indie
wtf? rap is the most meaningless music there is? i agree that the mtv shit is garbage but almost all the shit thats on mtv is garbage there is plenty of good music in any genre look deeper and stop being narrow minded
but this place is full of narrowminded individuals. Thats why I stopped caring what they say. I give my opinion, and say fuck the rest of ya. In the end, whos taste matters? Your own. Dont let people who say this band sucks or this band is the best of all time sway you. You have your own mind, and your own outlook towards music. go with it. this coming from an anti-hippy.
oh no not at all ganja i was simply stating my opinion i didnt actually give a fuck and i'm not in any way a hippie
Stop listening to the radio and you'll find a myriad of great music. It can even be argued that more great music has been made in the past 15 years than was made in the 60s.. back then you had to be 'somebody' to get your ideas out there, the zenith of 60s music includes (with some exceptions like those Nuggets comps, etc) roughly seven or eight established artists.. The indie/alternative movements of the 80s has allowed dozens of inspired artists to get their music out there, even if it is ignored by the masses.. Read up more, there is some incredible modern music.. I'm sure the people here can give you a few good recommendations. The Flaming Lips I would put out there as the best starting point for a classic rock fan looking to explore more contemporary music.
some people seem to hate hip hop because it is made by black americans. pure racism i reckon, only liking white bands.
I don't agree. You only live in past.. if you listened around, you would hear a lot of great music.. I know many good bands today.. don't look just at TOP 40 or what.. that's mostly a commercial shit, but actually, today's music is fucking good (to me).
It's stuff like Destiny's Child which get on my nerves, I mean "Lose My Breath"- was that even meant to be a song? But there are a few good 'uns around, like the Kaiser Chiefs I think are great.
