If anybody has any ideas with this, I'd greatly appreciate it! I just bought a Singer 756 (1970 model, $8.00 at goodwill) and everything looks cool and appears to be in good shape. I've gotten the top end of the machine loaded with no problem, but this is my first top loading bobbin machine, and I'm having a bit of a problem getting the bobbin to wind. I'm using the scanned manual page at http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Dia...ne_Threading/singer_756_threading_diagram.htm If you scroll down to the 3rd section "Winding The Bobbin", the step that is confusing me is in between #2 and #3. What the heck am I missing? The thread is up top in step 2 and in the bobbin in step three, and it doesn't tell you how to get it there?!?!?!?!?! Thanks in advance! SandalScout
Nevermind, apartly this thing has a tiny timing issue. I had to manually hook the thread around the thread to get it to wind. It's winding now, just gotta see if this will affect sewing.... I hope having the shop adjust the timing isn't too expensive (or maybe I can do it).
Okay, I got the timing fixed now (woohoo! The belt was only off by one tooth!!!!), but I've got a problem with the bobbin assembly. It's REALLY loose, like something is missing. The bobbin holder itself moves all over the place.... I'm sure this isn't normal. Does anybody have any idea what I might be missing? Is there something that snaps down over the bobbin holder? Unfortunately, I can't find any good diagrams of the machine, so I don't even know what I'm look for. Thanks again!
What type of bobbin is it? drop in,...etc Are all the screws in the bobbin case? fault finder: http://www.sewalot.com/fault_finder.htm
It's a drop in bobbin, but I think it's the wrong one... it's too small, so I'm gonna take it to the shop and have them doublecheck.
