theologian professor david ray griffin recently gave a speech on this subject to the uni of wisconsin of which an excerpt is given below: 1. Religious People Although I am a Christian theologian, I am in this talk addressing religious people in general. I am doing so because I believe that religious people should respond to 9/11 and the American empire in a particular way because of moral principles of their religious traditions that are common to all the historic religious traditions.1 I have in mind principles such as: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors’ oil. Thou shalt not murder thy neighbors in order to steal their oil. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbors, accusing them of illicitly harboring weapons of mass destruction, in order to justify killing them in order to steal their oil. This language is, of course, language that we associate with the Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. But the same basic ideas can be found in other religious traditions. I turn now to “American empire,” which has been a highly contentious term. continue reading the transcript, here: http://www.911citizenswatch.org/mod...e=article&sid=535&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0
thank you very much professor david ray griffin, and james Q that is a perfect definition and explanation. If the events of 911 were created by a spirit of greed or vicious murderers they wouldn't have achieved almost 100% perfection in their attempts. They dropped this countries two biggest file cabinets in their footsteps, and punched a big fat hole right through the pentagon. they could have just poisoned our food and water, or added to the amount of poison in the food and water that 'the system' is already dumping directly into 'ours', that is connected to 'theirs'. They somehow are smart enough to understand what they see. Those planes were guided by the same spirit that surrounds all of us, the spirit that so desperately needs for this industrial revolution to stop. I don't have any doubts WE have created the ultimate machine. Now it needs to be used to our advantage, instead of it being used to take advantage of us. In case you haven't looked into 'the future'... for more than a decade the system has been poisoning our milk, and milking us dry for the treatments. Some of the 'relief' we send to the starving people around the world is the same poisoned corn and wheat that have been outlawed in most of the world because of their obvious dangers and effect to our health. They have many other types of poison, and poison many other things. I have three neices and one nephew in this country, the most precious things in my world, the only four children I have felt in over three years. Combined they have been to the doctor over 100 times and 'prescribed' to take about 150 different medications. Growing up, my three sisters and I did occasionally get sick, but about 5% of what they have experienced. As adolescents we never had to take medication unless we had a common cold. We were all healthy(or a little too healthy). My nephew is 12 and he has "Osteoarthritis: Degenerative Spinal Joint Disease". The doctors said it may be the result of him being so active in sports when he was a child. yeah, you heard me. when he WAS a child. In ONE generation? The direct offspring from my family is full of sickness. Ha,, my zeal for science is swelling. Most of our babies grow up on medication because of what is going into their food. A direct link has been made between Cancer and ONE labratory, they have been linked, they did not, and will not make it. Somebody is going to catch and stop them. Eventually the same sicknesses will plague the rest of the world, and they don't have three or four pharmacies in every small town.. or at least one per mile as you travel in the cities. This country... uhh... bad scene. What if somebody stops them from poisoning your food? and it cuts off everybody's dope too? They have generated a genetically-altered society for a reason. Money. Power. Believe in whatever you want, but be thankfull for something that together we have generated into a spirit to make such a perfect effort at ringing out an internal cry for help - 9/11. It was not a coincidence. The war is about much more than oil, it's about what we are really burning. This one crop means everything, and nothing to the distant future. I believe you should get across the border, before they are used to restrain U.S. in an effort to control the spread of diseases that will occur as they mutate without medication. There is nothing for you to leave behind if you do not leave. It is that ugly already. I am Sorry. I am trying to stop it before my 4th birthday. 9-11 is the first day 'it' concerned me. IT was meant to give life to nature and turn forever. NOT to be turned into something synthetic, or manmade, something that will eventually consume itself! Right now, the clock is a countdown.
i honestly do not understand why 9/11 is still coming up in religion or politics or anything else. It has been several years now folks, get the hell over it and get on with the here n now n the future,,, what you believe aint gonna change what has happened years ago , why keep dwelling on it ?
Burby, just so you know, this guy is another wack job like mookis. Wait... you knew that already, didn't you?
who's mookis... i just like pointing out fractiual errors to people, im not one of those people who flame others just cause they hole "crazy views" i just let people post, and you know what, if i dont wanna be a part of it, i just live and let live
thanks for correcting the polar anomalies. but what did u think about the griffin article? what this guy had to say about it is not all nuts (the guy in thread 2#). he's right about it being all about money and power. and why should anyone give a shit after 4 years u ask? well, these last 4 years have all been exactly they way they are entirely b/c of 9/11, and the next 4 will be too, only worse, let me tell u. we will continue 2 hear the mantra of 9/11 used to justify more unprovoked invasions and attacks on oil rich middle eastern nations, and when more laws are brought in 2 curb our freedom and liberties. and when the jingo patriotic thing gets cranked up a few hundred decibels more it will be to justify the draft and we'll all hear about war being necessary to prevent another 9/11. and all the young guys go off to war believing 9/11 is the reason they will die. and the world holds it breath b/c we're teetering on the edge of nuclear war and environmental oblivion b/c of 9/11. but what if 9/11 had all been a fraud? an inside job, a scam, a big con perpetrated on all the american ppl by the same folks who brought u lead poisoning and anthrax? if we don't wake up soon and realise that we are sleep walking right into disaster then it may well be 2 late. i think that's why 9/11 still matters. i agree with the nutter, it's much later than we think.
well 9/11 just sounds silly...the rest of the world calls it September 11th, or the September 11th terroritst attacks... 9/11 is just weird sounding...it would be like calling Pearl Harbour 12/7... dsaying the mantra of 9/11 is used to provoke things is silly considering 9/11 is a phrase coined by he media and then used endlessly by the administration you are against seems silly too... ps-i said i dont flame people who hold crazy views...i dont see how saying 9/11 sounds stupid is flaming
it's not my favourite phrase either. i don't call it that personally, i use that expression in public because that's what the 9/11 truth movement has chosen to call it. and i support them. just because i am against the administration doesn't mean i condone them by using the phrase. how? i'm trying 2 reach ppl who are conditioned by the media and who are familiar with that name. it's not silly, in my view, to speak in the argot of the day, for these purposes. and it's not silly to say 9/11 will be used as a mantra to justify war. it already is ad naseum and will continue to be used. imho, it would be sillier to say that it won't be used. u didn't say that. u said 'you sound stupid'. the use of the 2nd person pronoun makes it an ad hominem attack, albeit fairly tame. be careful how use language or u will offend ppl whom u may not mean 2. anyway are u saying i hold crazy views?
no, infact, the "crazy views" thing was in reference to the man who posted the whole pesticides and the governemnt is out to destroy the crops post...i said "crazy views" in quotations in response to Zoomie...saying how i wont take part in it, like what is happening to antiporn right now...i wont take part in the flaming ps-i should edit my previous post...i try not to flame...i didnt think telling someone that the ad naudium use of 9/11 makes them sound stupid is flaming
it is when when u offer it as a gratuitous remark in a serious thread to someone u don't know. how else am i meant react? 'oh gee thanks 4 letting me know i sound stupid'? it's just u came across as a real smart arse. and the topic is serious. is that all u have 2 offer? ps. i'm confused. on this topic u hold quite reactionary views yet u describe urself in ur profile as 'ultra liberal'... it don't signify.
i'm trying 2 mount an anti-imperialist, anti-militarist line here, burbot. u have nothing 2 say except 2 criticise me about nomenclature (which is fairly trivial in the scheme of things). no support from u, oh comrade, only remarks that would undermine my position and make me, and hence my politics, look stupid. sorry, i don't see anything ultraliberal about that. i must therefore conclude u are in favour of more wars and more repression. or that u don't understand what 'ultraliberal' means.
After spending about 35 glorious hours in Forest Lakes, some of the highest and most beautiful mountains in Arizona, then returning home just in time to watch the first two hours of a two night episode called " Inside 9/11 " on the History channel, it just confirms my previous opinion. Regardless how many times the commentator refers to the "radical" Islamics as killers, or how many times he makes the comment that their ultimate intentions was to "kill Americans", it's obvious that the motives behind their planning was not to see how great of an amount of people they could kill in one strategic strike, but how big of a statement, or sign the could make out of the event. As skilled, trained, faithfull, financed, and meticulous the men who planned and executed the strike on 9/11... it would have been much easier for them to sneak four of five dozen shaving cream containers filled with deadly contagious chemicals and release them into heavily populated areas or arenas on a single date, then it was to live and be trained by Americans for their mission in the U.S. for years while avoiding the CIA and the FBI. I guess what I'm saying is, if all they wanted was to cause the most amount of death to American people... they would have done it the easy way, like the American Government does. With toxic drugs and chemicals that never quit eating at the population. Not something as orchestrated and prestigious as striking the WTC and the Pentagon. Oddly enough, they spent the first two hours focusing on "radical" Islamic's and making sure there is a clear association between all of the Islamic people and the United States military enemy, Al Qaeda.
