I seem to be a bit confused with all the different signs, and was seeking some help.. I've heard of the moon sign, sun sign, zodiac sign, and the ascendant sun. Could someone please explain the differences and significanes in each? Thanks

That was really helpful. It's funny, my rising is sagatarious, while my moon is in virgo-two very contradicting signs. The way people see me as a sagatarious, is very happy and lively, though I feel MUCH more connected to my quiet, spiritual, virgo moon. I wish people could see me as I do myself, with my moon in virgo, and I wish I could act more like that. No matter how hard I try sometimes it seems I am very lively and happy, while inside I truly wish I could be quiet, centered and serene like I am in virgo. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
That would have alot to do w/ it! A great book to make alot of doing houses and astrology easier is " The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" by Joanna Martine Wollfolk. It's a somewhat large, dark purple book and can usually be found easily in second hand book shops. It really makes doing charts and explaining them easier than any other books I have. Perfect for novice or a quick look-see.
