Do you consider The Monkees a hippy band?

    I understand u Samson ...even if your Photo of Harisson is cool , Terrapin Station you're wrong about the pre-drugs thing...and they were not early 60's ...the band existed from 65 to 69 ...so there's nothing early in it....
    And they probably some of them start to smoke hash by the second part of 65 (even if nothing's proved...a lot of bands started to smoke this year).

    They were not a bad band but they were ,at least in the 2 first year, directed by a company who had clearly a great commecial vision of their animals...golden monkees is what the boss saw

    personally i wouldn't call the monkees a hippy band, seems more of a pop type genre of the time

    Say what you will about them.. "Porpoise Song" is an incredible achievement of psych-pop.
