I have heard of them and decided to look it up and I was floored with what I found. These camps are disgusting and I am shocked that they would exist in a facist third world country never mind in America. Here is a link to some information I found:

I know it's horrible. I can't even read all of it. I have friends on www.gaychristian.net that have gone through the whole ex-gay thing. And it really is destructive to the mind. The organizations that do that disgust me.

just a minor random amusement. the site is called the daily kos. kos in hebrew means cup. haha... the daily cup.

and yeah, I've seen that before - the kid has a livejournal somewhere... it's awful.

In case anyone's wondering; DailyKos is a rabidly mainstream (what a combo, eh?) democrat site; it's not the christian brainwashers.

So yeah, it's your daily cup of frothing middle-of-the-road lesser-conservativism. :H

Yep. I've heard about this stuff elsewhere.

I went through the ex-gay racket myself. IT DIDN'T WORK! On the other hand, I was convinced as a result of it that being gay was not a choice for me, that being gay meant I was being true to my nature.

The whole thing with the camps makes me think of the Nazi concentration camps.

At one point I thought my parents were going to send me Ex-Gay. They're both hardcore conservative southern baptists. I think they're starting to get a hold on themselves though, and I also think my dad at least suspects I could be bisexual. I haven't openly talked about it with them though, partially because I don't want to confuse them as I don't accept labels. It would probably be easier for them to accept that I was gay then it would be for them to accept that I call myself human and let anything slide from there.
