I am on the pill at the moment but am planning to stop taking it soon. Only thing is this, I have had a break from the pill before and last time I stopped taking it I suffered from hair loss and acne pretty badly. Also it took about 6 months till I got my first period after that! Any tips of what I could do to prevent this? I don't know if this is normal, maybe any of you have experienced this and can help. I thought about taking certain vitamins and minerals that are good for hair and skin, but I dunno if that's enough.
How about asking your doctor? He can run some tests - maybe you have PCOS or some other metabolic or endocrine disorder the pill is covering up.
No, I'm pretty sure that's not the case cause it just stopped after about 6 months, I think it was just that my body needed time to recover and get back into it's natural way. If I had a problem like that it wouldn't just stop after a while, so I am pretty sure that's not the case, thanks anyway though.
The Acne i can see... But you shouldnt be losing your hair... Go to your doctor.. Did you tell your doctor that you lost your hair when they put you back on it?
Yeah go to the doctor, he/she might keep you on the pill. make sure you are tested for PCOS. i stopped taking the pill and was fine right away, that is the way it should be.
i'd talk to your doc, especially since you had problems in the past. are you on the same brand/dosage as before? if you're on a high dose pill, perhaps you'd be able to take a low dose pill for a little while to ween yourself off of the excess hormones? you probably already know this, but just in case i'll mention it anyway. after you stop taking the pill, you are really, really fertile. i'm not sure how long your risk of pregnancy is elevated for, so you might want to ask your doc about that, too, if you're sexually active and don't want a baby.
Hehehe, actually, that's what I'm hoping for - we will try for a baby soon. Yeah i guess I will ask my doc about it, was just trying to find out if anyone else had similar problems. Thanks all!
I guess most people come of of it without problems, but I think that there are more people then docs and the pharm industrie would like to see, that are having trouble of one sort or the other. A firend of mine didn't have her period for over a year. The best option indeed would be to talk to your doc. He can also give you a lot info about preparing for pregnancy.
As it's a European one I doubt you'll know it, but it was a quite strong one, because I had skin problems when I was younger and the doc said this would help. I was thinking about taking extra silica before and after stopping, cause it's good for hair and skin as well. But I'll definitely make a doctor's appointment too.
