All videos played with my computer seem to be brightened. Not games, but all my bittorrent tv shows. Ive tried it with countless diffrent files so I know it was not an isolated event.

I had just updated my nvidia xp drivers before.

    fx 5500 256mb

    thanks

Okay. here's a lesson in Video.
Movies and Video Clips are played in whatever lighting they were recorded in.
Thats why monitors and video player software have a brightness control.

With some cards, including the GeForce FX you have, you can control the brightness, colours and saturation of the video overlay which is rendered in hardware. Right click on desktop, properties, settings, GeForce FX5500, video overlay settings (or color correction) and change the configuration there to suit your needs.
