My plants don't really smell at all yet, although I did get one very good whiff as I moved the trays around yesterday. I'm worried about what will happen once they DO start to smell. I've never grown before, so I have no idea how strongly they tend to smell. It's absolutely essential that I control the odor. This is very much a secret setup, and there are people the next room over from whom this must be hidden. It's probably too much to ask that the smell not be allowed to leave the corner, but keeping it confined to the room would be better than nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Will air fresheners like Glade Plugins have any effect? How about strategically-placed vats of baking soda? Will I have to leave my windows open to freeze in the New England later winter night? Please help me out, people...

If you aren't growing very many plants then I'd just burn incense like a madman and stock up on Glade.

Ok, this hurts, but I gotta contradict my own damn words. Burning incense like a madman is not feasible. I have not tried glade plug-ins, tho.

I, too, am getting to the point where odor control is going to become necessary. As it is right now, when you walk into the room that has our closet grow, it definately smells. Not like pot yet because the plants havent begun budding, but more like a greenhouse type of smell. I'm worried that going into summer, the warmer temps are only going to make the smell stronger, especially when they start to bud. I've read everywhere about using a carbon filter and some ducting and a fan to move the air outside but that will not work for me. I dont own the property I live on so major modifications are not an option. In other words, I can't displace the smelly air. I just have to mask the smell.

To all you closet growers, whats your trick?

Ona gel blocks or Odor Killer can be found at most hydro stores. Will control odor for up to a few plants.Ideally one should use a carbon filter on there exhaust of heat and kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

i've heard that a small container of charcoal can neutralise the smell.

Home Depot carries a few things, I don't recall the exact name
but it is some strong stuff. If you walk by it you'll know.
It is in with the cleaning stuff. They have Orange, Lemon and Neutral
Alot cheaper than a hydro store.
Do not get the mesh bag with the little rocks! They don't help shit!
I'm going by HD in a bit, I'll look and let you know later today.
    Peace~

Sorry that took so long, but this is a weed board and I do stay quite stoned.
Home Depot has the gel canisters, pack of two for $6.99. Closer, cheaper
    and it works really well.
    Peace~

a carbon filter has an extractor fan on it and it pulls the air through it. the carbon neutralises the smell so no one knows about your growing operation.

    they are quite expensive ($200)

i live in the UK so i don't know where's best for you to buy.
