Last night at the beach, my bestfriend and I found a piece of glass smoothed out by the lake. He and I want to make a necklace out of it, by breaking it in half, and we both get a piece of it.

Now, I'd like to do this, but I was curious what I should do? It's a pretty fair piece of glass. Should I see if I can get it scored, and then broken (but then there will be shards, and sharp edges.)

how can I put it on a necklace? Drill a hole, or glue a clasp to the top. I've posted a picture of what this piece looks like, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

you could try buying some realtivly soft wire from a crafts store and wiring the piece of glass. with a really small set of pliers you can wrap the wire around the glass in a decorative manner and levave a little loop at the top as a clasp. you cant really mess it up becuase you can always re-bend the wire. What i like to do is add little glass beads as i wire it, it looks really pretty. its funny, i was thinking about douing this with a piece of sea-glass tonight.

There is one small problem. I need to break the glass into two pieces at least. My friend and I want a piece each. :) I want it to still look jagged, and such. Not a straight line. I was suggested to use a glass cutter. What do you think?

You could use a glass cutter. Take it to a stained glass shop and have them score it and break it for you. They have glass grinders and could take the sharp edge down for you. Sharp edges + neck = danger ;) If you have never used a glass cutter before I would have someone that is used to them do it. You only have one shot to cut it and you don't want to wreck it.

    Good Luck!!

You're right. Glass is pretty crazy. I don't think there are any stained glass cutting places in my area. I'm sure there is a place that would do SOMETHING. I just don't want a straight edge, I still want it to look jagged, but, maybe I'll luck out and I will get another piece of sea-glass. :)
