We are running out of oil. you and your children are doomed. isnt great that we are headed for disaster and nobody is taking it seriously...
I don't believe we are running out of oil. Many people believe we are, but there is a lot of propaganda being touted by the big oil companies that people are not taking into consideration. I believe the notion of oil scarcity is really just artificial scarcity. It's a scam being used to justify the rise of gas prices more and more, while slowly impoverishing the average working-class American. There are several oil reserves we haven't yet even tapped, but the oil companies don't seem very interested in this. After all, it would work against their agenda of promoting peak oil as a valid theory. I am all for alternative energy, but so much of what is out there (ie: free energy) is being supressed by the powers that be.
Pressed rat, all true, but you forgot to mention big american oil companies and that bitchy brit one taking it in the ass from opec and the arabs all for personal wealth and financial gain.
We got along just fine for tens of thousands of years with very little use of oil. If anyone's doomed it's much more likely to be those who believe as you do than those who live close to the land and respect Mother Nature.
I do not possess expert knowledege of the oil industry as it relates to this thread. It is my sense from what little I have read and heard that the original poster of this thread is pointing at truth but is making a statement that suggests timing that is not correct. In my view we will see combinations of events, occurring for reasons that I will not qualify in this post, converge (and are presently doing so) that will evoke very substantial technological innovation, and that will influence innovation in policy and action by business, governments and individuals, in the general area of energy resource usage, discovery and production. My intuitive sense is that the price of oil will continue to rise and in the not so distant future will rise dramatically thus forcing many of the above mentioned changes; and that a general slowness to react to the lack of cost-effectively available crude oil will cause many difficulties in our world. Added to this is clear widespread corruption on the part of entities controlling large material and finanical interests; significant environmental destruction with a number of known real and potential related events; siginificant increases in the rate of population growth; the emergence of socio-cultural dissonace reduction related events that are largely connected to economic and religious divides, and to recent significant changes in communications and transportation capabilities, one example, of many, being the attacks of '911'; the emergence new burdons due to disease in relation to some of the above mentioned factors; and, the emergnce of factors related to the above factors that have thus far not been mentioned. There are many sincere people working on many fronts to help remedy the above mentioned difficulties. It is important that we all work from every aspect of our being, paced like a long distance runner, in order to help our world transition to a stable and healthy place for all of us, for our children and for our 'children's children'. There are so many different actions avaliable to each of us individually that we can do to make our immediate world and the more distant world better for all of us. When we do truly good things for ourselves then we in some way help others, when we help others in a truly good way then we in some way help ourselves. Peace, David
