Does anyone know if gum base is made from animals? It just reminds me a bit of gelatin so now I'm wondering. Thanks, R

that would be blue gum, and that would not blend flavour-wise.
gum in that case refers to the pitch, the sap.

is that gauw gum or however its spelt....comes from some tree if it is.

I used to do enamelling and we used this gau gum stuff to stick the wires onto the metal plating, to hold it in place while you put the enamell on. it is edible but its sticky....i notice it in a lot of foods at the supermarket labelled as gau or whatever gum, i found it odd considering i had used it as a glue type thing, used to buy it in a powder and mix it up.
