    does anyone know a bit of software where i could chop/cut up video files - mainly .mpg's? ( or any format really, i guess i can convert into what ever format the program needs )

    so i could take say a 10 second .mpg file, and cut off the first 2 seconds and remove the last 2 etc?

    also does anyone know any good software where i could then somehow edit various clips together, use various different transitions effects from clip to clip, and maybe add sound etc?

    and something free as well! or something i can download a trial for ;)

    thanks for any help or tips :)

    There are quite a few mpeg/avi progs and tools out there:
    1)Xmpeg has a new version and it is freeware(cut,slice,crop,encode etc...)
    2)Advanced File Joiner.(freeware)
    3)MediaJoin joins media types and stuff.(freeware)
    4)DVDBuilder dvd-->to mpeg.(freeware).
    5)AviSplit Classic join and cut avi+divx files.(freeware)
    6)TMPGEnc nice software it is freeware but the mpeg2 function has a trial period of 30 days.This is a powerfull prog, it has templates and stuff and you can also cut,join,decode,encode etc...

    Get the TMPG and look for cracks.
