I know theres another Stephen King thread but i wanted to talk about this specifically. Why is The Stand seen as such a good book? i read it once and found it to be overlong an preachy once the plague had finished.
I enjoyed it. I read the unabrigded version. Although I saw the film first. Its an interesting idea - what would happen in the world if such a plauge occured.
The Stand is my all time favorite King book. What I really liked about it was that everybody was somebody in the new society that was formed after the plague. Everybody was valued and everybody had a voice. Too bad that is fiction.
I love this book. I'm 3/4 the way through. I think it's a great story as it's something that could really happen and it gives us an idea of what life would be like in that situation.
I'm reading the expanded version. I've heard people say it isn't a very scary book. I disagree with this, as the horror I find is that something like this could actually happen.
