The french foreign legion you get to learn to speak french , the food may be good or it may be something else entirely

a great place to go to forget

one of my cousins was in it and deserted (very fun thing to do desert )

and my sister had a ex legionaire living in a caravan outside her house for years, hes in holland on a murder charge but a lovely bloke and most likely innocent or he had good cause shes looking after his dog while hes away.

Hate is a rather strong word, but I agree totally. There's fun protesting and then there is just all out attention seeking

Ok i don't hate them...I just dislike the pretentious style they have adopted in relation to there anti war / globalisation etc etc ideology...

I am sure if you laughed at them for being wingnuts..they would laugh back ..oh how 'ironic'.

I think any group that can get an army recruitment office to shut down can only be a good thing ... No matter what they look like :)

Just going in and trying to offer an alternative recruitment .. The staff got so fed up of them they shut shop for the day. I think they did it to a few centres.

They were also trying to join with "Hey if we join up do we get to shoot people?" There's a couple of video clips on their website.

That would be the prententiousness of them..even worse than pocking a plastic flower down the barrel of a gun..

If i was to do the alternate thing from my perspective i would be called a right wing fascist warmongerer by them i would imagin.. I don't have a issue with the 'cause' just the way they go about it..'they 'mask' the true intent behind a 'funny' face and spout off about:

We are clandestine because we refuse the spectacle of celebrity and we are everyone. Because without real names, faces or noses, we show that our words, dreams, and desires are more important than our biographies. Because we reject the society of surveillance that watches, controls, spies upon, records and checks our every move. Because by hiding our identity we recover the power of our acts. Because with greasepaint we give resistance a funny face and become visible once again.

I other words ..we don't want to get our faces on police videos in case our other activities get out of hand...(not that i am saying they are rabid anarchists or anything ..just a thought)
