im really stoned right now, and "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who i am just noticing is an a-m-a-z-i-n-g song. really. it is. PUT IT ON PEOPLE!peace.
Oh yeah, I love 'Behind Blue Eyes'. I've been listening to the album Who's Next non stop for 4 days now. I'm really getting addicted to their music. The Who is great!
shame. shame. shame. you are going to hell for that. but don't worry... Hell's going to be fun. I'm going there too and we're going to party with Rock Stars... oh, wait, Limp Bizkit listeners don't get the rock & roll circle of Hell, they get into the other music circle of Hell. Well, in that case, your punishment will find you. Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm sorry, I feel like being mean. By all means, listen to whatever you want. ~rock on~ bisket.
Not to offend your tastes, but the Limp Bizkit version tore me between anger and wanting to cry. They don't do that classic Who song justice at all. Haha, rock on! We may be headed to Hell, but at least we'll be among lots of friends! I like that idea of a special, cool Hell for Rock... someone should arrange for that in a modern-day Dante's Inferno model or something.
About the best covers of a couple of Who tunes was done by Pete Townsend during a live performance for Amnesty International's "Secret Policeman's Ball" about 1978. He played lead accoustic version of "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Drowning" with John Williams (the Classical Guitarist, not the Movie Composer) as backup. The concert came out on Vinyl, havn't seen it on CD.
Crap... I didn't know there was someone named "LuciferSam" here! Damn, if I'd have known that, I would have picked a different name... :\ Oh well. I'm guessing you too got your name from the Pink Floyd song of the same name? If so, I'm just curious if you are also into Syd Barrett's solo work. Oh, and about The Who... hehe, they're my favorite band of all time. Yes, Who's Next is great, but in my opinion, not one of their best. I would say that Tommy is their best, then The Who Sell Out & Quadrophenia, then A Quick One, then Live at Leeds (If we are counting live albums here), and THEN Who's Next. I don't know... just my personal opinion.
got the word from Pete Townshend's website, "Baba O'Reilly" will be the theme for CSI:NEW YORK and you'll remember "Won't Get Fooled Again" is the theme for CSI:MIAMI and "Who Are You" is the theme for CSI. I cried many times, but this tragedy is worse than simple weeping. With this new inclusion of "Baba O'Reilly" into the list of songs now titled "As Seen On CSI!" , I will be vomiting. Oh.. oops. too late. ok , ya , I take my WHO a little too seriously but for one of the most innovative and greatest bands in rock & roll how could you not be sad. But hey... somebody's got to pay for Roger Daltrey's twinkies. Twinkies don't come cheap you know. Nah, I'm joking. I love Roger Daltrey (see "sex with one celebrity...who would you chose" thread. hahaha). I'd pay all my life savings ($20...haha im kind poor) to touch his hair. Trying to find "The Kids Are Alright" DVD at an affordable price. That movie on IFC along with some radio and these forums, made me curious about the Who. I've been reading about them, blast three different radios, (one on each floor, one in basement!) when they come on, and trying to get my hands on some quality records. (like i said... im poor) Anyway, looking for the movie... nothing makes me smile like the Who. Whether they are rockin', being silly, or causing mass destruction, they make me smile. I LOVE 'EM ALL!!! (and i'd ball all of them if i had the chance!) But The Who is definitely the band that never gets enough credit. oh well, the who rocks my socks.
i couldn't help it, The Who has the best album covers... writing...too..small...cant...read...what...does..it...say?? HAhaHAha.. sorry i had to post this. i need to go to bed its late now. ~Peace~~
Hey, lover/young peace, those are some sweet animations! I've never seen them before. Oh, and by the way, I have The Kids are Alright DVD and it's sweet. I also have The Who Live at the Isle of Wight and another DVD of various performances with a tribute to Keith Moon. The Who sure was an amazing live band... Pete is just insane with his guitars and Keith's drumming sounds like it's raining drumsticks. On, and the cover for The Who Sell Out is one of my all-time favorite album covers. The words that you cant read (hehe) are fake advertisements for various products that they "advertise" throughout the album, which is a tribute to pirate radio. One of my all-time favorite albums too.
I love The Who their so amazing my dad got me into them hes quite a big fan of them as well hes gotr most of Their songs on CDs or LPs!!!
Well, I will definitely agree that Who's Next is overrated, but I really don't think that Tommy is, from what I've read. Who's Next gets TONS of praise, but Tommy is usually just kind of pushed off to the side, or so it seems. On a similar note, I would say that A Quick One is probably The Who's most underrated album, although I think it is one of their better ones. The expanded CD version is amazing. "A Quick One, While He's Away" is probably my all-time favorite Who song. For those who might not know, "A Quick One, While He's Away" is a mini-opera with four or five parts (can't remember exactly how many.) It ends up being about ten minutes of pop genius. I definitely reccommend it.
