Well I finnaly got Peppers and Egglplant (Babies), Cucumbers and tomatoes, squash too! But my damn dog keeps eating them! EVEN THE JALAPENOS!!!!! I put up nice 3 foot fence but she just jumps it or digs underneath. Anyone have any ideas about keeping a dog out? Besides building a 6 foot fence with razor wire and landmines! Something that would defer NOT harm the animal of course. I'm wondering if vinegar sprayed around the garden would wierd her out?????? AAAAAAH HELP Thanks.

Basic training for your dog is in order here. Be a responsible pet owner and work with your dog to teach it boundries.

a friend of mine has just suggested sprinking pepper over the plants in the garden...apparently dog and cats don't like it and it doesn't harm the plants any. i'm going to give it a try (along with the new fence that my hunny put up) and i'll let you know how i fared. :D

We have a 5 foot fence all around the garden. Also a loud "NO!" when the dog tried to enter the garden, if the gate is open helps.

We once lost all our tomatoes to a naughty Malamute and learned our lesson (and we had a sick dog on our hands, too.) My dh built the fence to our huge garden (I am guessing it is about 20 feet on each side, not including the compost) in a weekend. He used a post hole digger, with concrete, and then used strong wire fencing between the posts, and has wooden posts horizonally at the top and bottom of the fence. Then we line the inside of the fence with patio bricks, to prevent digging dogs. If it can keep out 100 lb Malamutes, it can keep out anything.
