I'm a fan of Maddox. His site is very basic, but very popular. He's a smart guy and I think a lot of people laugh at his retort. He says what he feels, but isn't that the magic of the internet? I'm sure when the puppet called Bush gets his way and takes what little freedom we have away, people like Maddox will be a distant memory, but until then: "Give it to them, pirate!!!!"
PS. I'm glad he took that thing he wrote about Christopher Reeve the day he died off the site. Maybe realized he was going too far and that shows that he's not a total asshole.

 

He didn't take it off... he just changed the name from "Christopher Reeve is an asshole," to "Christopher Reeve was an asshole." Bwahaha.

What is that feeling when you're driving away from people, and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.

 

Yeah, I like Maddox. He hates hippies, or says he does, but he also says a lot of what he says he hates on his site, he doesn't really give a shit about. In any case, it's funny. And the Reeve article is still there.

 

For the catagories of fiction and nonfiction....God! Although he technically didn't write it. Sorry..I just saw the thread on the main page and I hadda....silly mood!

Maddox just doesn't seem very tolerant to me... you can call his detractors closed-minded, but it's his smallness that they dislike. Maddox also seems to be better at tearing things down than creating, which lowers my opinion of him.

 

Apparently all you have to do is be the biggest jerk in the world and people will be impressed.

Maddox is funny as hell, even if I don't agree with alot of what he says.

He has some very good points buried in there, though.

That was the first one I read. It was very funny, but he could've ranted a little longer...

 

Everything he said in his GTA rant had been going through my head when I first heard about it. Its not like this was the first time you could download a patch to add nudity to a game - tomb raider had that, unreal had it, I'm sure countless other games did too - but the nudity was CONTAINED IN THE ACTUAL GAME DISK! OH MY GOD! The worst was that they wanted ALL versions of the game to be changed to adults only, xbox and ps2 included. I guess the nudity was stored somewhere in those versions as well, so even though there is absolutely no way to activate the feature (unless you're a computer and electronics whiz and are hell-bent on watching computer generated sex), these MUST be rated adults only anyway.

And maddox is cool because he strives to offend all and spare nobody. And THATS cool because it grinds against everything those same pro-censorship wankers that started the whole GTA coffee mod mess stand for.

 

How could he be the best writer in the universe?

first of all, he is bitchin and moanin, sayin how everything isn't good, while he doesn't really try to create anything himself just knock things down,

second, he is writing in english, so other people over in like japan would not read this, and they dont care about someone like this,

and third is who knows what else has been written in our universe, maybe something has all the answers to life written down, now that would be the best writer in the universe.

 

I don't know SoundStepper. Whilst he's no Dostoyenski, he still manages to mix a style of arrogance with an inept eye for everything that is wrong in our world. The result is, by all means, raw humour that has the inevitable effect to offend a lot of people. He may be irreverent, but Maddox is certainly not irrelevant. As for the Best Writer, well, how do we judge that? It's not like a sprint. How many times has a movie won the Best Film category and a lot of people thought it was a pile of shit?

Maddox may not be reading material for everyone, but sometimes he makes me laugh till I cry and there's not many on his level on the net.
