fuckballs. what's everyone reading these days? i'm nearly finished with the jungle now, and will soon be moving on to a biography of miles davis.
Simon Singh's Big Bang, best book I have ever read. If you have any interest in the Big Bang theory, Astronomy or Cosmology I highly recommend it, thought provoking stuff.
Almost finished Porno by Irvine Welsh.. Its good. I think it could be better than trainspotting.. I feel so bad for Spud..likesay.
um i finished fear and loathing a whuile ago..... now im startin 2 read electric acid kool aid test...but im takin forever cuz im soooo lazy to read! like everytime i finish a WHOLE book, i take a long break until i can even start reading again!
I read way too much, and like Bill, stick mostly to nonfiction. Philosophy, science, etc. Fiction is just like a break sometimes. Anyways, I just finished "Into the Wild" a biography of sorts about a guy who just gets rid of all his stuff, hitchhikes and tramps around for a few years before starving to death in Alaska. Good book. Also check out "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". It's long and rather involved (it is a philosophy sort of book, after all), but not a book to be missed. Not much about Zen, though. If you want fiction, Jack London is awesome, "Call of the Wild" "White Fang" are classics, and I have a collection of short stories by him that are also very good. John Steinbeck is also great, "Grapes of Wrath" and "East of Eden" are my favorites. "Of Mice and Men" is a shorter one, if you don't want a real long book.
"Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" and "Another Roadside Attraction" are both good. P.S. Why this forum? Why not "Books"?
because i was high when i made it. really fucking high. of the other books i recommend to you kids (and your drugs), is "man's search for meaning" by victor frankl, and "the passion of the western mind" by *first name* tarnas. was supposed to read them for my philosophy class last year, finally got around to reading them indepth, and they're excellent books. ...still high.
ive started reading (because my mum boguht it for me, not caus i took teh initiative lol) 'The Private Life of the Brain' by Susan Greenfield. the second chapter however is what I am reading at the moment and its 'the story so far' so its really just her talking about other people's stuff in this chapter and its really boring. but the rest of the book looks very promising.
i just finished she's come undone now i'm reading the notebook and i think i'll pick up i know this much is true wally lamb's such an awesome author i also read nuclear evolution on and off.. its a crazy book it can really open your eyes and mind about a lot of things
on the road by jack kerouc is a great book.. so it catch-22.. its a hilarious book bout how crazy the military is (that book was the one that made the phrase "catch 22" famous).. im reading 1984 now
Just checked out The Discoverer's by Daniel Boorstin. What I have read sofar has been very good. It discusses man's search for better understanding himself and his world. Its like a history book discussing time, expeditions, and mans greatest discoveries.
I am reading The Regulators, it's pretty good so far. Just in the 1st chapter people get killed. If you aren't into horror stories....dont read it.
Those are both AWESOME books. I had to read fahrenheit 451 for school and everyone else was bitching about it but I really enjoyed it. Animal Farm is really good too, I'd reccomend it over Fahrenheit 451.
