I was supposed to catch this at 10:45 tonight and the bugger went and sold out! I couldn't believe it. So we picked up tickets for sunday night...
This movie is my favorite movie of the summer. Maybe of this year i havent decided. Its a real change from the first. I just caught an interview with rob zombie about it and he said that he didnt want it to be a sequel because he feels that sequels are just the apitomy of bad movies. So he changed things up a bit. He acually quoted the seinfeld episode where george did exactly oposite of everything, and told his cast members to "do what george did." Thought that was pretty funny. But yea its true. Baby didnt really ever make that famous and oh so sexy laugh so did in the first hahah. Otis is kinda the same, i mean hes the hillbillie bad ass satanic killer like allways so that was good, and captain spalding had some of the same whit he had in the first but not as much humor. I LOVED this film. I saw it at 3:15pm when i woke up lol, and wanted to see it at 10:45pm the same night..I also cant get the allman brothers' song midnight rider out of my head..and for those who have seen the movie already, im sure you know why, and for those who havent seen it..it might be the best opening montage to any movie, especially this one. I am going to go see this movie tomarrow i just know it. hahaha. I know this has been said by all those lame movie critics who like movies but...THIS MOVIE IS A MUST MOTHERFUCKING SEE!!!
Oh man this movie was great. The second best of the year to Batman begins. I love how Zombie showed them as a loving family in all the slow mo scenes with skynard playing. Such a great movie. Tuti Fuckin Fruity. Otis is the man, and seriously Captian Spaulding for President! I always wondered if he did coke and weed too lol.
heck no. a sequel to a movie that sucked in the first place. Dr Satan my ass. That character was pathetic nothing about that movie was scary.
ydnim: it wasnt supposed to be scary. i mean to be honest, i dont see how it could be. It had too much humor for anyone to take the horror side seriously. And Dr. Satan wasnt even mentioned in The Devil's Rejects. It was as though he never existed and all of the killing was for their own personal pleasure. I was kinda dissapointed about the mom not being played by the same actress. I mean this actress did a GREAT job showing insanity, but the first actress was acually well known and recognizable. Anyways. This movie is far from a sequel. In a sequel, usually, the "bad guys" are still trying to do the same thing they were trying to do in the first before getting stopped. Which in this case would be gathering up all the young women they could and mutalating their bodies and everything, but they arent. Sure they kill alot of people but their main goal is to escape from the police. So i guess you could just say to be continued in the house of a thousand corpes because this just picks up where it left off as if it never ended. This movie is great, dont listen to the bad reviews, especially from ppl who havent even seen it! And by all means, if you hear ppl say, ahh the house of a thousand corpes sucked so will the devils rejects, dont make your assumption about the second film because its an entirely different type of movie than the first..
Now I'm excited. I've been waiting to see this ever since I saw a rare preview back in December, but I'm not allowed to see it until my girlfriend gets home from her cottage in a week. FUCK!
damn that sucks...i must say...Sheri Moon Zombie is probably one of the most beautiful and sexiest woman alive..
The cinematography and soundtrack alone made it awesome. Yea I've been wondering why Dr. Satan and all those rabbit freaks were never found or don't exist or what not. and that whole groucho marks part, was that just supposed to say that Groucho SUCKS? Also yea ydnim it wasn't supposed to be scary it was basically a cult western.
Im pretty sure they did find all of the remains from dr. satan but im not sure why they never found him or the other superhuman dead ppl things he created. When the news ppl were reporting they said that "police discovered what can only be described as a mass grave of decomposing bodies, found under the structure of the house." so im assuming they were talking about finding the underground part under the house. But again im not sure what happend to Dr. Satan. That damn, yall remember in house of a thousan corpes all those skeletons that lined that hallway to dr satan's "office" there was hundreds of bodies down there, i wonder if they killed them all or if it was past generations of their family. Damn, rob zombie can sure make films.
ya i saw it a few days ago and really enjoyed it, i didnt think it was really scary, but i thought the whole texas chainsaw massacre type family was real eerie, some of the acting was kinda cheesy at points just like house of 1000 corpses but overall it was a pretty good movie, funny as hell which suprised me oh and the soundtrack kicks ass, and i agree with whoever it was that said the use of freebird at the end was good, at the end, also the movie made me sympathize with the rejects (no clue why just did, i thought otis at the very end when he stopped the car had so much emotion in his eyes)
I had to watch House of 1000 Corpses a few times before I actually "got" it. (Yeah I'm slow.) I think the scariest part of "Houses" was that there are actually people out there that are crazy like that...Creepy. *cringes* I'm excited to see "The Devil's Rejects"...looking forward to it.
so this one does have a story to it? House was okay, needed somewhat of a plot I thought instead of just torturing people...
WharfRat: I totally agree with you. I wanted the cops to end up being killed by them some how or them just get away free of death. And with Otis..yes. I thought about it afterwards and im sure he was changing his train of thought towards his life when he was thinking of his family and all the good times they shared. Anyways, yea his eyes were so small and bloodshot and teared up man it was crazy how good he made emotion come through to that. But i totally agree with you, i wanted the pigs to die! hahaha And Yes house wasnt supposed to be scary. Although! I must say, the part when they droped that last girl in Dr. Satan's pit and they put that lantern and that recorder playing that really evil chanting sounds..that kinda made me be like...damn thats pretty evil. Im not sure why, but it just sounded dark. But House had close to no plot. Sort of like the texas chainsaw massacre. Its creepy because ppl are really that weird and sick. Whats creepy is that i live in texas...blah! hahaha. But yea devils rejects has a very good plot. Go see it
