    Did anyone ever attempt to make any kind of lotions or shower gels, I've been searching some sites, but most the recipes have a ton of ingredients. Anyone out there have any simple recipes?

    There's quite a few books out there on making your own bath & body stuff...I've got a couple of different ones. The best one I think is called "Natural Beauty for All Seasons"...can't remember the author, but I'm sure you could look up the book online.

    As far as easy recipes go....they're not too hard to make up on your own actually. Most of it's just logic of the same variety used in cooking. Oils don't combine well with water, melting things makes them mix together better, and preservatives of some sort will make things last longer. Oil- type things (almond, vitamin E, coconut and such) work well for lotions; things such as witch hazel work well for cleansers.

    honey!

    Use honey to wash your hair (it won't lather, but it will be clean, shiny, and soft), use it to wash your face (add some almond pulp for an exfoliater), use it to wash your body/hands

    Coconut oil is a terrific body moisturizer

    You can make a great bath salt by mixing epsom salt and baking soda. You can stir in some essential oil for scent. You can also swirl oats in a blender to grind them up really fine and mix some of that in too. I made a bunch for Christmas last year and it was a hit with my sisters.

    I like mixing olive oil, sugar and essential oils to make a scrub.

    You might check on craftster.org (I think there's a soap/bath products board), Recipe Goldmine, and TeachSoap.com for some more recipes

    I like to look on the www.lush.com website to see what they put n their conditioners etc, then I make it fresh at home. Heres something to try for a hair mask;
    1 mashed bannana
    1/2 a mashed ripe avocado
    honey water to make into a smooth consistancy
    and some oils/juice (depending on hair color)
    lemon (light hair)
    rosemary or patchouli for dark

    Just experiment and have fun!

    if you have a bottle cap or something, you can fill it with honey and put it in the freezer - makes a nice lip balm

    yes! you can make a kick ass body scrub from brown sugar, olive oil (or another type of nice oil like almond) and some grated ginger. It makes your skin so lovely and glowing.
