Are there any Bahá'ís around here?

What do you think of the religion, if you even know what it is?

I've been one for about a year and a half now.

i think its a good idea [i used to believe sort of the same thing, then i didnt anymore]...i have nothing against it as a faith or the people who follow it...however, i dod remember reading somewhere that it is acctually really bad with womens rights...

that's exactly the OPPOSITE of what i've read about the Baha'i faith. everything i've seen is very geared towared equality of the sexes. do you remember where you read that?

Here's the position on women's rights from their own website:

    http://info.bahai.org/article-1-7-0-6.html
"Women and men have been and will always be equal in the sight of God," said Bahá'u'lláh.

I like some of the ideas. Especially the world as one race united.

Shame I have an allergic reaction to dogma and the worship of anthropomorphic deities to appease the self-inflicted need for salvation. Its a big problem I have with all the religions.
    ;)

If there are people out there that really must choose a religion. This looks to be a good one.

what do you think of the prophet's instruction to adopt a one-world language ? isn't it about time ....

the most promising language i have found is based on baby-speak . my view is that it is a real and meaningful language that we are born with , like a bird is born with its song . it has only been suppressed , so it is a language that need not be invented or contrived or even chosen - only blessedly allowed . i can speak and write this language , and i know only if you listen you will hear it in the world . if you try and do not hear it , then i am wrong . i have this much confidence because it is of life , and life is strong . the One language is alive .

    RE: sign language

(mimes giving the finger - or the V sign for our UK brethren)

There's a language with many meanings but is universally understood hehehe

The fact that there is so many languages IMHO enriches us as a species.

well , how would someone write in sign language ? exactly so , in sign language the medium is the message . a beautiful language though - like the sign for sunrise is so gracefully expressive .

i'd be interested to find a bahai discussion or thesis on the subject of universal language . or , please , do carry on here ... was the prophet correct in thinking it a necessity of world peace ?

Yeah me too. I read this thing about womens right on the religious tolerance site...see if I can find the link. Hmm..can't find it.

I actually don't know why I'm not really into the baha'i faith anymore. When I first read about it, it felt like all the pieces of the puzzle suddenly fell into the right place, but now it doesn't do anything for me anymore...:H I suppose because I find it hard to see Baha'u'llah or whatever you write it as a Prophet.

a bit of the same for me...it was really looking like Bahai was really good...but i dont think i could ever accept the Baha'u'llah as a Manifesation of God as is claimed...thats probobly another reason [along with the womens rights thing] why i fell away from it

Well, I read that too, but women are not allowed to take place in the Universal House of Justice, the group that decides for the Baha'is in the whole world.
