I've had my belly button pierced for about 4 months now and in the past couple weeks it's been looking really strange. I noticed the first sign was that the ring was sticking to the skin around it, once I would clean it it would be fine but then start sticking about an hour later. Then a couple days ago I noticed that the skin between the entry and exit holes is really hard and dry.

I went to my family doctor thinking it was infected but she said that this isn't a sign of infection. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

your body might not agree with it. it might be rejecting the peircing. doctors dont usualy know shit about peircings/and care of them.. i would goto the place where you got it done and ask them.

yeah, asking the piercer is probably the best route. they may want to replace the piercing with a different shape or different type of metal, or recommend a different cleaning procedure. Nip it in the bud, because it could turn into rejection, which would suck.

My navel piercing is 4-5 years old and about a year ago the skin on the inside of the hole started sticking to the barbell. I just ignore it because it doesn't seem to be causing a problem and when I change the barbell I make sure to soak it to unstick it. haha... that sounds gross.

general sign of rejection..take it out and have someone with a btter hand repierce it...and try going with tygon..a type of plastic tubing that has balls threaded into it...it is less likely to reject with tygon.
