I have tried posting this in [H]ard forums before, but they are all unhelpfull asshole when it comes to software, and networking. I am pretty much a Linux guy, and not a big fan of xp, especially sp2, but I am stuck with it for another 6 months. Ever since install, I have not been able to download with p2p, and/or BitTorrent. It pissed me off so bad after trying to limit the default 10 connections to 50+, and still no results, I just went back to SP1. Still, no results. When I start to dl a torrent, or try to use a p2p program, I get the first maybe....3-45 seconds of the download.....and then the problems start. My net just slows down, and then my aim disconnects, and reconnects. It is a horrible problem for me, because I live to download. Any suggestions?
In Windows XP SP2, turn the Firewall OFF. Set your Antivirus to ALLOW your P2P software access to the web. MicroSUCK likes to control whatever we do.
Haha, thanks Matt, I have tried turning both my firewalls off, but not antivirus....will see how it works.
msoft has banned p2p some how with sp2 that was somewhere in 2004 as math said the firewall and av should be adjusted, maybe you could change your listening port(s) to lets say 443,445------or between the range of 50000-61000 I asked a friend of mine and he said that it took up the speed for him hope it helps... peace....
Appreciate all of your help guys, but still no luck. Can't install xp again, no way to dl.....=(. On a second note, all of my changing attempts have resulted in the beautiful change in ping with steam. Pinging 40 one moment, and 300-400 the next.....fuck windows. Once, and if ever, linux supports cs, im switching.
what bittorrent client are you using? i finally installed sp2, and i've got the firewall on, and Azerous works just fine for me
I'll second that Az. Works just fine for me with sp2. The upnp feature worked like a charm as well, no diddling around with the router, nice.
