I am from connecticut going to school in maine. i went to U. of New England (biddeford maine) for two years (2003-2005) and just transfered to U. of Maine for this upcoming fall semester. but they are counting me as out of state which makes me mad. But I am going to call them and be nice and mention that: - I went to school in Maine for two years - I had mail sent to Maine during college - I worked in maine during college... - ..meaning I paid taxes in Maine and.. - ...filled out tax forms (obviously) for maine - I am with my sister in mt. vernon for part of the summer but have my mail sent to CT cos my mom helps me with finances (partially a lie but oh well) - Besides, the guy who sent my UNE transcript to UMO and USM said I should be able to get in state no problems..so maybe the schools just want me to fight it and they will than accept? Is this convincing enough to gain in state you think? what else should I say/know? please help!!!
I tried and got shot down. maine is different apparently. you have to be in state for a year for puporses other than school. damn it. oh well 20,000 or so is still cheaper than my previous school.
In Missouri, you have to live here year round -- as in stay in state and have some sort of job -- for at least a full year to get in-state tuition. You also have to save utilities bills in your name for at least a year and all kinds of crap (my bf went thru this a couple of years ago).
