TreeFort Greenhouse

Over this summer me and some of my friends are planning on constructing a greenhouse tree-fort. He has 18 acres of heavily wooded lands, our basic idea is to build a platform amongst trees, put walls up around it, and lay plexy glass over the top to form a type of greenhouse. Any comments or suggestions?

We have already considered running power out to the fort, but would be expensive, and would make the fort alot more noticeable. We are most likely going to get a small generator and run it to keep things warm on colder days.

 

It will be very noticable by air, if you hook up artifical lights- so don't. The sun is best.

Also, instead of plexiglass (which cuts out too much light) use filon.Filon is that corrogated plastic stuff commonly used for roofs on sheds. It's usually green or white, but it also comes in a "clear" or translucent that is designed for greenhouses. It's not really clear (you can't really see through it), but instead admits about 90% of sunlight while breaking it up for even distribution. It works great.

You can get it at homedepot, and I don't think it's anymore expensive than plexiglass.

Sounds like a very cool project.Hmmmmmmm.I just may think of trying this myself.Has anyone ever grew in the trees like without a cover over it?

 

why not build a big platform in the tree, trim the top out so sun gets in.
all you would need to do is fetr and water then.
Some guys in oceanside had a tree grow op going in the 90's. the cops were searching up and down a riverbed looking for it- and couldn't find it.
After a few hours of looking they were standing around under a few trees, talking about shit cop talk about, when water dripped on one of their heads.
Needless to say they looked up ,and there were the plants on drip systems in the trees.

i doubt you need a green house up there, thats just gonna take time money and get you caught. what you do is build a nest. outa some screen or something. cover it with mud and twigs on the outside, and good soil on the inside. plant a clone up in there. you are going to have to water frequently though, i would say at least once a week. to make it easier to water, build several nests in the same tree.

yeah i gotta see this hell if i lived in your town i'd volunteer my assistance. i live in an apt complex but i do have a nice sized patio. i was thinkin of building a mini greenhouse but i'm a little paranoid about that. good luck on that fort

Well we've been workin, and we are almost finished with the basic construction, and we've decided that we will camoflauge it(no specifics yet), and we are thinking of switching it all to a wick fed hydroponic system, with a drip feeder. So we won't need to water nearly as often(just gotta re-fill the big bucket, which could be huge) Unfortunetly we aren't gonna start anyplants till next summer though. I'll get round to a picture of our progress.

 

you could get one of those nets the hunters use when they're perched up in the treechair thing so the deer cant see um. i dont know how much they cost but i have friends and family that hunt and you cant see shit when they're sittin up there . even if you watch the fucker put the damn thing up and cover himself with it you still think you been eatin shrooms cause he vanishes in mid tree.

Don't you think that will been easily spotted/stand-out from passing aircraft?

 

no offense intended but I think your a tad paranoid... passing aircraft first of all will probaly not be low enough to see my plants, and its not like there will be a field of weed growing, just 6 or so plants.

But whatever its my decision to risk it or not, and im gonna risk it.

yeah dude , just this once i might have to break down and agree with danger. i was under the impression that you were only going to try a couple plants,but six ? maybe you need to brainstorm a little longer before you go doing this . that must be one hell of a tree. dont you watch police chases on tv? you know that krazy contraption they use to track down the idiot who jumped in the van to sell crack to an undercover oinker. now he's running , jumping over bushes , trampling over somebodys tulips. why is it that we can see all of this unfold....could it be helicopters , "gasp" and they have cameras ....infrared ones too.

as far as being paranoid .... dude you're doing something thats illegal. you should be a little paranoid , you should watch your ass just to make sure everything is running properly and everyday you should check and make sure there arent any breaches in security i.e. rips in camo, high winds blowing camo off, thats the cost of growing weed illegally. go check out NORMAL and read up on the laws in your state and see how long you'll be in prison when they find the shitload of plants you stuck up in a damn tree.
yeah i know i was all for it before, but i've been thinkin... not a good idea to me . but then again i've never seen your tree . so....you dont hve any neighbors that can see you going back and forth to this damn tree with jugs of water and meters and such.

again i'm not trying to trash your whole idea , just giving you shit to think about . we're all curious to see what kind of yeild you might be able to get but we'll never know if you get caught. i dont think they'll let you sign on to the hip marijuana forums while you're locked up .
