One big hobby of mine is music I listen to lots of music and buy lots which is why I shop at a store that has a card that each CD you buy you get a stamp get 10 get a free CD anyway getting to the point I have over 100 CDs and probably the same in Cassettes {which I'm sure is a small collection ;) } and am still looking for more and would like a more varied collection of 60s and 70s music could anyone suggest any as you know my mind is limited to ideas :)

    BLACK SABBATH

if its the first Black Sab album you have gotten, get Paranoid.

also get Led Zepellin 3, Jimi Hendrix Experience Smash Hits, and just about anything from The grateful Dead in the 60s is really great too, their best music IMHO.

also for some peaceful stuff, check out just about anything from Bob marley

I say, if you want to hear some great music from the 60's; check out The Beatles' Let It Be (normal or Naked version, both are great) and The Eagles (something with Hotel California on it) Queen (Phantom of the Opera or something like that) as for mainstream rock.

David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Yes for a bit of alt/art/glam rock.

As for the ska and reggae, check out some Madness (is that 70's?!) or The Specials, Peter Tosh, Marley...

As for the disco, check out Bee Gees (haha, they're so funny [IMG]) and Boney M and Abba...

As for the punk, punk-rock, check out Ramones and The Clash and Sex Pistols...

As for the metal, check out Judas Priest or Black Sabbath...

That's it, i believe there are many many other artists which I haven't listed as I don't listen to 60's/70's lots (k, I do, but not often)...
I hope this helped you at least a lil' bit!

    Love,
    Borut

Go for some 13th Floor Elavators as well. They rocked. Oh and Janis Joplin, Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane. Haha, those all began with J's. Ooohh how amusing.

Really good suggestions all over this thread....I second a lot of the above post too, esp King Crimson and Pink Floyd.

Just remembered Todd Rundgren, he is still around too. He's on the back page of this month's Relix magazine. "Wizard a True Star" and "Something Anything" were my favorites. He is a magically gifted musician, IMO. A one man band.

You know... I like a lot of the progressive stuff back then.... I think that's why I like a lot of electronica-ish stuff now. But I mean... I like it all, really. As long as it doesn't sound like crap on a stick.
