Maybe this was discussed here before, but I don't care-- it's worth mentioning again.

    Learn about it

I know a good amount of both liberals and conservatives that are against this measure. What ever happened to this being the United STATES? We are supposed to be a country of state-run governments united, not a country under one large federal body of control.

    Slutter is agreeing with Sarah...
WTF did that lady put in my coffee this morning!!?

But, yeah, I agree too. States rights are being tossed hand over fist, could we expect any different? ''All politicians are scum, except MY politician, MY politician would never lie, cheat, steal, do whatever it takes to get more power, they're just great"... the way most people think. Besides people are practically begging to be led by the collar, you'd think people would give a crap about any of it but oh wait, american idols on... gotta go.

I'm pretty conservative, and I started this thread lol...

I don't think it's so much that hell is freezing over, this is just a genuine non-partisan issue that every liberty-loving person in the US should be paying attention. If anyone here is not paranoid about this, you're not paying attention.

I just feel that a large and powerful federal government is not in the best intrest of civil liberties. I think that small state-run governments would do a much better job preserving the freedom and liberty of their constituents. Unfortunatly, I fear that our states and our general population has become much too dependant on the federal government (how would poor states like Arkansas take care of it's people?) - and we can't just rip it away from them. That leads me to think that to preserve civil liberties and care for our people we could find a better way to use the federal government, more in a humanitarian sort of way as to strictly care for citizens (such as social programs and funding), while stripping it of it's ever-increasing legislative powers.

Although in a perfect world we could get rid of federal income tax, and the completely bloated federal beauocracy, and let the states pretty much take care of themselves - but that would put a large percentage of americans out of work and a heavy burden on the states. It just doesnt seem feasible.

    Smart-ass remarks welcome, McGee [IMG]

    Yea, I'd call it a non-partisan issue.
