Greetings earthlings, The Ranch is starting to transform. Tents are springing up everywhere. The kitchen on the hill is running smoothly. Work crew has been here for a week, weedeating and bringing in firewood. There's drummin' on the hill, and a massage therapist to boot. Well, build it and they will come... The strangest thing is that this past week has been filled with blessings and curses, like we're living inside a yinyang thingie. The blessings increase as more folks show up, and so have the curses. We had a very bad thing happen in the middle of all this. Our dad, who some of you may have seen at Rainbow, got sick and had to be taken to the hospital this morning. He is very old and may not make it. So eveybody pray for him. It's nuts to have so much going on here and dealing with that too, the ultimate balance? This gathering is going to be a TRIP! A celebration of life... It may have to just run itself, but I think we're capable of that.
Anyhow, I hope to see a bunch of you here this coming week... Hey, hippyhillbilly and dilly, I had more fun at the gathering with you guys than I did even at the drum circle on the 4th!!! Matter of fact, I miss ya... Damn it!!!!
    Blah Blah Blah,
    Earthmother

We seem to be having a regional of sorts. The vibe is BEAUTIFUL now that our 2 "problem children" have been banished. One was ducktaped and straight jacketed, the other found he wasnt nearly as big and mean as he thought he was. All problems have been resolved without anyone being beaten up by the local rednecks! We had to create a 5 minute rule. That means if someone is being agro and absurd they have only 5 minutes to chill out or they hit the road. Now things are really peaceful and kind. The hospital is going to pull the plug on dad today, and tonight will be a fullmoon sweat lodge, a wiccan protection and renewal ceremony, and an all night drum circle. The experiment of mixing rainbows and locals seems to be working, and the thing is running itself well. I've gone from being a worker to being the great question answerer. No police harassment as of yet. We've only seen a couple drive by. I feel this is because we are bringing $ into the county which is very nearly the poorest county in the nation. Looking foreward to a totally sleepless and rockin' weekend... See ya all here.......

Well, it's all over but the cryin'. This was the most fun couple of weeks I've had in a very long time. More fun than the national gathering, I think because of a smaller crowd that you could actually get to know. The Pink Elephant ran the kitchen, Rainbows took care of parking, shanti sena, and cleanup. A wonderful sweat lodge was constructed and appreciated by numerous folks including some locals. We couldn't have done this thing nearly as well without them. Many locals got really turned on to what was happening. Yay!!! A few locals caused problems far worse than any Rainbow trouble one night, but Rainbows worked hard to save the day... We got buzzed by National Guard once, and a walk thru by one lone state cop who was very cool about the whole thing. He was there due to the trouble caused by locals, let us all know he wasn't there to bother anyone about drugs, and left impressed with the organisation of the camp and friendliness of folks. Plus he showed up just as a kick ass band was getting started. A friend of ours got a photo of a hippy smoking a bowl sitting in front of the cop car... General opinion was that the cops were told to leave us alone 'cause this gathering was bringing much needed money into the two counties. We're discussing the possibility of hosting a real regional next year. There's plenty of room. We had one unfortunate Rainbow casualty. If anyone knows Jay from the Pink Elephant, well he went fishin' in the local River and got checked out by the DNR officer who discovered he was wanted in Washington. He got hauled off to jail and will be extradited to Washington. Everybody pray for him 'cause he seems to be in some serious trouble, and he's really a GOOD GUY... Dad is holding his own and that's about all. He temporarily improved on Thursday for a few days, and all the family members who came got to see him one more time. So... It's sad to see everyone go, and we can't wait to do it some more. This was just what we all needed.
