best dead song

    in your own opinion, whats the best grateful dead song.. if u want to give a reason. if u dont like dead then dont post "dead sucks" or stuff like that.

    my favorite is sugar magnolia cause its such a cheerful song. I also like their version of johnny b goode

    It's really hard to say, but I am going to have to say Golden Road, simply for the lyrics, the layers of different sounds, and it was the first dead song i heard.

    oh shit,

    scarlet mountain (scarlet begonias/fire on the mountain) from like 77-83 is good

    scarlet.. the words( like many of their songs, but this one happens to be my fav.) convey what the world should be like. and how it is when you are around good music and peacelovin folks.


    ...strangers stoppin strangers, just to shake their hand...

    oh how i wish

    2nd would be ripple... again a world message.."let there be songs, to fill the air"
    music has such a powerful effect on people, no matter what kind of music ya listen to....what would the world be like without it? i'd be very afraid!!!

    and SHAKEDOWN.. that's just a get up on yer feet and dance, givin all you got song!!!!
