I have naturally curly hair and I want dreadlocks! I've been doing research on how to make them (mostly the back-comb method). Then on Knottyboy.com I saw a picture of a girl who had curly/wavy dreadlocks. From a distance, it looked like she tied the knots multiple times. Does anyone know how to make curly dreads?

when i went to the beauty shop to get advice on how to wear mine fer my wedding... the shop owner said that they can do dread perms where they put yer dreads around curlers and actually soak em in perm solution. i said HELL FUTTIN NO!!! simply cuz there's no way my dreads would hold a perm(too thick) and you'd never get that stink out of yer head. but with thin dreads, you can do it. like i've seen women of color get dread or braid perms. so its possible. i don't know of any way that dreads would just naturaly go curly *shrug* the ends may stay cute and curly where the hair isn't dreaded.... but as the bulk of em tighten, they straighten out. good luck

hiiya.. well my hair is naturally curly/wavy and is in dreads.. a mixture of lettin it b and purposely i have backcombed, twisted /knotted parts.. so that it became seperate.. n not one huge dread ball on the back of my head ..lol. You could take the piece/lock of hair u want to dread.. like a braid ..if u split it into 2..keep backcombing it n alternatly twisting each peice so that it nots together.. then just leave it n see what happens.. they mite b quite straight at first tho..but yr hair'l start regaining its usual kinks n curls... espesh after the touch of natures elements.. som of mine are in ringlets now.. experiment an c what happens!!!! wooo ..have fun .. x

it took me two years, but now i have curly dreads! :)

just stop brushing your hair and eventually, as long as you pull apart any huge matts forming, you should end up with curly, kinky dreads

    peace
