I never lost the dark pools of lightning
in those effervescent hours of dawn,
a shattered window into the beyond
    of that pink teasing sky.

Spine an arcing curve to meet the
line of sun that is just about to shoot
over the heads of startled conifers,
    stretching, like a decandent beast.

    Stand behind the shadows of the stars;
pretend that eyes do not see that far
beyond the drunken lights of nocturnal vision.
I see you standing there, waving that

tattered flag like a sodden rebbel,
equipped only with a heart that
has forgotten the beat of voices and drums.
I see you there. I never lost

the dark pools of your eyes
in the summer hours of that
    secret smile sky,
and I waited for a long time.

*smiles* greatly enjoyed, esp. 3,4,5th stanzas were my favorite. Atmospheric yet tangible with just the right wording...

I dissolve in your first two stanzas. Your close inspired lingering, evoking the imagery of the morning sky to serve as clarity for comments. Yet, these pools of electric darkness still pulse with a rhythm, felt beyond description.

    "waving that

tattered flag like a sodden rebbel,"

There is a great sea-serpent slumbering in the space between these lines. A veritable leviathon.
