It doesn't take much to have an opinion about stuff you know nothing about. Did you know that L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology, was a science fiction writer who said repeatedly, in public, that a good way to get rich would be to invent a new religion? Oddly enough, I was reading about this in a thread somewhere else on the internet the other day. I might be able to find that quote if anyone's interested. Call me uptight, but I'd be just a little skeptical if a science fiction writer with a great imagination, who said he thought that inventing a religion would be a good way to get rich, told me that in order to progress spiritually I needed to give him lots of money. But hey, that's just my opinion.
Well, even if you don't want that quote, here's the link to it: http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/scientology/start.a.religion.html
Yep i agree. I never really liked his acting or him as a person. He always seems to only do roles where he is the star. I don't remember him ever taking a role where he is in the background. Anyway, he's not worth conversation anymore. Plus, why does he always choose women who are taller then him? Just a thought.
He likes to seem in control, hence his utter arrogance. But, maybe he has a secret desire to be dominated or maybe he sees Katie as a mother figure. Either way, i just totally grossed myself out
I thought he had some valid points. Pyschology has become somewhat of a dead science. Perscriptions for those PPD drugs are being given out like candy. Everyone seems to have some kind of mental disorder that "needs" drugs nowadays...And what's worse is, it seems like parents pop pills into their kids' mouths just so they don't have to deal with abnormalities and misbehaviors. But he is an arrogant prick, and he was in no position to talk about something as private as Brooke Shields's mental state on national television.
Free Bird, as someone who has a degree in Psychology, and works with mothers with PPD almost every day, I have to respectfully disagree with everything you said in your first paragraph, the number of people who thrive while in and after therapy proves your point as wrong. Those drugs are needed for many people, I don't feel they are "WAY" over prescribed, a few doctors rely too heavily on them, but there are many people who can't even get the medications they need to survive because doctors are too paranoid about the "Black Box" warnings on Antidepressants and ADHD Stimulant drugs. AND even while using the drugs, THERAPY (which licenced Psychologists provide) should ALWAYS be part of the equation. Using meds alone is rarely the answer, but is PART of the answer, a big part, along with good therapy. Psychology is far from "dead."
Psychology is not a dead science. It's a field that is very broad and can be used in many areas that other disciplines can not.
They put pressure on the doctors to perscribe certain drugs too. The drug companies are messed up like that.
As I have stated in my first post in this thread, sadly, this is not always the case. Without behavioral therapy, medication is relatively useless. I am quite grateful to have studied under contributions to the Psychology field such as William Dales Hartt (Psychologist, Professor, and Author of, "Final Legacies" and "Death of an American Beauty") learning both the positive and negative aspects of the field.
He's 5' 7". There are plenty of women who are taller than that. If he was even standing next to a lady that was 5' 6" & she had 4 inch heels & poofy hair she would look a lot taller than him. OK there are many that he could find that are shorter than him but maybe, like has been alluded to he is looking for someone to be a "Mother" to him.
Or, perhaps, he just has a fetish for long legs. It's pretty hard to speculate over a person you've never met and probably never will.
It really is too bad that he's so repugnant. The world needs icons that are good for it not blathering idiots. There are just too many of them around,
So true,so true.... That is kind of strange that he gets with taller women. I'm 5' 7" and I've dated much shorter men a few times, and one guy I dated was my exact height..he couldn't stand it,if I wore even two inch heels. It's not that I have an issue with the height,it's always the men that feel threatened by it. Soooo,I do think that's strange, but maybe he doesn't care...and for that matter,I doubt he chooses anyone, those women are beautiful and I would say they're the ones doing the choosing, not him. Not sure why they chose him though
well my friend just sent me this on apparently what Brook had to say! ...Well, he attacked her for taking anti-depressants. And she said, 'How many kids has he given birth to? He doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. He should stick to what he does know - saving the world from aliens.' And, then, as she was performing in a play in London, she said, 'I've got two tickets for my play for Tom Cruise. One adult and a kid's ticket for his girlfriend.' ...
I don't really care if people want to state their opinions, but you can't expect to be warmly received if you say such controversial things. It's not really his place to act like he is 'right' and his word is 'fact' though. He's an actor not a doctor. Just like Arnold is a body builder/really bad actor- not a politician.
