Hi! I'm not expert in astrology, but often when I said that I'm a Gemini people watch at me with big eyes and then says something like "Uh, I know, you Gemini are liars, bi-facial people, no-trusting-people, false" and so on. I'm not like that! Someone else here have heard these kind of things? (or maybe I know perfid people )
see I think people just take that they are two sided wrong, I am a Gemini I would never betray people and I am one of the most honest people I know, they don't understand what it means to be two sided so they think of it as being deceitful
Yep. I think the most commonly used term I've heard is that Gemini's are two faced. No one ever sees the good side of us...but really no one ever sees the good in anything, so I wouldn't take it too much to heart. Just as long as you know you're not like that...
To clear things up, the correct term is "dual" sign. Gemini is one of the dual signs of the Zodiac, along with Pisces, and some say Sagitarius. The term is used to denote the complexity and inner duality with the people born under the signs. They often have multiple things going on at once. A dual sign is not inherently a lier or two faced at all. A dual sign is not prone to mental illnesses such as schizophrenia any more than any other sign either. Dual signs are more aware than most of the oppositions, and multiple realities shall I say, than other signs. They see more than one side of a viewpoint, usually at once, and thus may appear scattered all over. On another note, I notice that a lot of posters in this forum think that certain signs are better or worse than others. That is a very black and white view, and does not stand up to annalysis. There is an ease of expression, or a difficulty of expression inherent in each sign. How a person expresses themselves is only an expression of how well they know themselves. Astrology can be a great tool to aid one in making the best of what they are, not a tool to say one person is better than another because he/she was born under a bad sign.
i agree with trekker. we actually contain all the planetary energies in us but some planetary energies are accentuated because of the sign they happen to be placed in when ur born. like, when u say 'i'm a gemini' most ppl think u mean 'my sun is in gemini'. there are 9 other planets to consider too, and each one of these could be in a different sign as well. when u add it all up u will find u r a concatenation of different zodiac qualities. and we haven't even consdiered the ascendant and lunar nodes yet. the sun sign, imho, is overrated and over-simplified because the sun is the chief masculine archetype in our culture because our culture happens to be patriarchal. i believe that the moon (the one identified with the feminine archetype) is just as important (if not more so) than ur sun sign. sun signs r only a fairly recent thing (popular since linda goodman's book). be4 that people would identify with the sign/s that their moon and ascendant were placed in. i'm a gemini sun and mercury and find this sign effects my way of thinking to a large degree (that'd be mercury) and the kind of nervous energy i run on (sun): like trekker mentioned gemini gives u an understanding of the law of opposites, how reality is constructed by polarities. i like it meself :sunglasse
I think you mean "dual", not "duel". A duel is when two people fight for honour; dual means there's two of something.

As a Sagittarius, I'm not sure if it's an inherent "duality" present so much as an inherent thoughtfulness, perhaps, that leads to awareness of duality. And then you can have the personality split, which may be more difficult to deal with for someone who didn't have their entire life to nurture it. It would be interesting to see the ratio of schizophrenia as corresponding to the astrological signs. It seems to me that Geminis tend to get a little arrogant in their dealings with people, because they're used to being misunderstood. I don't know if they're particularly any less trustworthy than any other sign, but it stings a little more when a Gemini betrays you, and you tend to remember it more. Because you get the sense that this person has a broad perspective. So if I were to accuse Geminis of being anything, I guess I'd accuse them of being self-righteous. I guess it's just a lot easier for someone to do as they see fit and justify it by saying "I'm misunderstood" than to actually make themselves understood. Everything being irreducibly complex, as we know, makes it difficult to explain oneself. But that's no excuse.
i've always thought the duality of Gemini was less a 'seperate' type of duality... in Pisces the fish are swimming in opposite directions, in Gemini the twins are standing together. i don't see the duality of Gemini as a seperate duality (like Pisces where the fish push and pull at each other), but more like a pair of good friends who have different perspectives but stick together in the end. i agree... not just posters in this forum, but people in general. i try to let people know that your sun sign isn't everything... there are so many factors that go into who people are; their upbringing, their personalities, their experiences, the rest of the planets in their charts... the list goes on. on the other hand, it can be entertaining to talk about general traits of certain signs and have some fun with the best and worst of them -z
the imagery of the twins resonates with the myth of castor and pollux. these twins are called 'discouri' meaning they have a god and a mortal as parents, so one twin is divine (pollux) and the other twin is mortal (castor). these 2 boys are absolutely inseparable: they go on many adventures together: rescuing their sister helen from the clutches of theseus, joining the good ship argo with jason on a quest for the golden fleece, and generally being wild and free and naughty. this is dispensation given to geminis: they may break the rules that others must obey and fly if they so choose and fuck the law of gravity. one day they have a fight with another set of boy twins over two sisters they wish 2 marry (this is a 'duel' not a 'dual' ) and castor is mortally wounded and dies. pollux, unable to bear the thought of being left alone strikes a deal with the gods: in exchange 4 castor's living again and them being able to stay together, the boys must spend half their time in olympus and the other half down in the underworld where it's terribly dark and creepy. this is the unavoidable separation all geminis must face within themselves. it can lead to madness if they r unable to integrate both aspects of themselves into one whole psyche. if they don't learn how 2 be equally at home in both places they can go down 2 to the underworld and never come back. or it can lead 2 divine hijinks and a charmed life if they do.
I am Gemini....I do believe that this dual side is just the nature of the sign...Of course the bad sides of this can always occur...
i know a geminis just like that, boys and girls. its like they can be calm and indifferent and in the next moment they'll be confrontational and passionate. most people, like the earth and fire signs, are almost guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows of confusion when in the company of a gemini. as a pisces, we have more in common with gemini than the other signs because were both flexible signs - we arent both represented by twins for nothing, i dig the geminis
