does anyone know about this? it's a bump on my wrist that causes it to feel sprained; sometimes it's fine and doesn't hurt at all, sometimes it feels pretty damn sprained. i think it's a buildup of fluid or fat, depending...at any rate, it's quite common, and i'm just researching methods of dealing with it.
has anyone dealt with one? i just called the doctor and he suggested surgery, complete with anesthesia, which i am NOT into. looking for alternative options...
    any info'd be great!

I had a pilonidal cyst for years. They can lance a cyst and give you antibiotics, but it will most likely return. Even though you don't want to hear it, surgery, a cystectomy, is the best option.

blah to that. i read that, even with surgery, there is not guarantee the cyst will not reappear. it just seems like a lot to go through to have a tiny bump on my wrist removed - anesthesia, hospital, etc.

my g/f has had a ganglion cyst on the back of her hand, right near her knuckle for a few years now... it just magically appeared one week... it really only bothers her when i start rubbing it subconsciously when we're holding hands... doctors say it's not a big deal unless it starts growing in size

I had one of those on the underside of my wrist..... all I did was hit it against the doorway, and it went away.... you can either hit it against any hard surface, or in olden times, they would hit those things with a bible.... they arent dangerous or anything.... all it is is fluid built up around the joint.. all it takes is a hard surface and a good jolt to push it back in.

My step-sister had one on her right hand, she had to go get it cut out. Now she's got a HUGE one on her left hand LOL. Poor woman.:(

unless it is causing pain, I wouldnt get it surgically removed....... like I said before, it can be taken out with a bible. or any hard surface

uh, the idea of squashing my wrist with something! but y'know, crappie, you have a point. in my research, it said that it is a good way to rid the problem; the info also said that some less 'traditional' doctors actually do this- hit their patients with books!
if that is the case, well, what about intense, directed massage?

all I did was hit my wrist on a doorway...... there was no pain involved, and it subsided.

I dont think massage will work, because I tried to push the cyst down with my other hand, and it never did anything..... it needs a hard surface and direct jolt to push it back

I have one on my right hand right now. I went to the doctor about a week ago and she said to just wait. Apparently even if they inject it with steroids it will still come back because there is a shell. Personally, I'm just waiting it out. I'm not going to go under anisthesia for a bump on my hand.

Though my doctor did tell me that massage could help, but it has to be vigourous.(so if it really bothers you)

hmm...i feel ya. the reason mine bothers me so much is because i am always putting direct pressure on my wrist, leaning on it. i play capoeira, and so much of the sport involves wrist action; i wear a wrist brace, which helps very much.

it's cool (and sucky i guess) to see that i'm not alone here with my wrist problem!

yup what was just said,,, just smack it real hard on something,,, they generally go away then all ya have to deal with is the bruise from whacking it,,,, but seriously it does generally work.... had one come n go for years n all it would take was a good beatin on something to have it go away
