I think i may be pregnant but it is a few weeks until i will know. i was thinking of having a midwife, i like the idea of amore personalized relationship with a pregnancy caregiver. what do you think. also does insurance cover that and if not does anyone know what prices range?

I don't know, but it's supposed to be a lot cheaper than a regular obstetrician (sp?)

It really depends. Midwives are NOT much cheaper really. And are you planning on birthing in the hospital, birth center or at home?

Some insurances will cover at least a percentage of it.

I had homebirths with a midwife and our insurance reimbursed us 80% of the cost which was 2500$

Do your homework and interview the midwives in your area. Also,I can say from experience that homebirth midwives are ALOT different then hospital midwives.
Hospital midwives are not very alternative which I really value in a midwife. So if you plan on birthing in a hospital as far as insurance and coverage goes I would choose just to use an OB because there wouldn't be much difference.

I am a HUGE supporter of homebirth and encourage you to educate yourself as much as possible so you feel confident in your choice.

Good luck and I wish you the very best and healthy 10 months ahead.
