Right, so I know that it's reccomended that you soak the seed(s) in a cup of water or paper towel over-night and then plant them...

Well anyway, I keep getting these about centimeter long shoots coming out of my seeds, and then when I plant them they just die...do I bury them under the soil, or do I let the shoot stick out? I've tried both and nothing works...yet just platning the seeds regularly works, but I would like to try this method just because it's been reccomended by a lot of people to me...

    Any input?

    alright wishiwas :)

sounds to me like your leaving the seeds to soak for to long - i put them on damp tissue just for a day or so, so the tap root is just poking out, only 1cm or so, then i get a pen, poke a hole in the soil, and drop it in the hole ( carefully holding the seed without much pressure with tweasers ), i put a bit of soil back in the hole and just sorta shake the pot a bit to settle it all, water ( but don't over water ) and leave :)

sometimes it doesn't take long before they start popping through the soil, sometimes it takes a few days. if the tap root was showing from the seed - all is good and you just gotta be patient :)

I plant seeds 1" deep, on their sides.

I soak em in rain water for 36 hours at least, then pit em into polystyrene cups with holes in their bases, use a pen or butt end of a paintbrush and drop em no more than 1 inch from the surface. Don't touch the tap root with your hand and use a very light soil. Don't use seeding soil cause it's crap.

Most important to an MJ seedlings success is a humidity dome. Put em in there for 7 days with the vents closed. Another 4 days half open the vents and another four fully open. After that bring em out and veg.

I had an 80% success rate last time round and 95% success this time round.

Beware though, some seeds can take 10 days or so to sprout so don't fret!

My best bet is just plant them, I have had trouble trying to germinate in a napkin since i was 15 and first tried it. Before that it was always just sprinkle seeds in dirt where they will get water.
And 30 years later I still get the best results by putting them in dirt straight away.
Either I drown the seeds- or they get too dry with the napkin.
Like L.L. says- do it in the dirt.
I used piranha on some today- Im just soaking them until they get wet enough to go underwater, and I'll plant them in soil.

I soak overnite in distilled water then into evenly moist paper towels and get near a 100%.seed germination has alot to do with age of seed with fresh/very old having very low germination rates.

Just stuck them in dirt under a flourex today- two from the last batch is up now. Most of those drowned, and these seeds are known to carry fusarium, boytritis, and possibly greymold. So the piranha should combat the harmful fungus .
It's just so friggin hot, most of those last ones rotted. Im culling old school seeds for old school strains- This time I selected indica dom beans looking for a roadkill skunk.
The piranha should help immensely- this time i planted 18 more. Bet ya most of those pop.
