and if it were real, then its just a thought (thoughts are something blahblah) you can imagine pure nothingness, but it doesnt exist.

no, the universe (planets stars) is spreading throughout empty space. As i understand it, Space was not a result of the bigbang. rather, the big bang took place in Space, and it spread throughout this endless Space.

digitaldj speaks the truth about how we could never travel to other galaxys thats why there is no way on earth there has ever been a UFO. It is a proven fact that it is impossible to travel faster then the speed of light. The nearest galaxy is hundreds of thousands of light years away. A light year is how far light travels in a year. So even if someone did find a way to travel at the speed of light there is no creature that would live long enough to make the voyage. I always hate to burst people bubbles but i just cant stand people talking about being abducted by aliens its just complete BS.

not even that 25 miles mushroom youve all been talking about could make it. So take that sacred shroom.

Well, theres no possible way you could know how long a creature from a distant galaxys life span is. :p Its so amazing to think though...all the other planets just like ours...like they probably have history just like ours, incredible.

nope. i used to think only at death would we learn all of the secrets of the universe, but i now realize that when we die, it will all still be a mystery, but more over, we will be dead, and it wont even matter.

With all the billions of possibilities, it seems very probable that there are other planets just like ours.

Nothing doesn't exist yet so there is no real way to have any comprehension of it. Our minds are finite, and nothing is infinite. It wouldn't be logical for a human brain or anything a human could create to figure out what exactly nothing is because there's no way we would be able to comprehend it.

i've always wondered about that as well..

i always think of monks and other ppl with "pure minds" who can expand them so far beyond the average person.

i once worked with a guy, he was 45 years old and making the same 12$ an hour i did, but the guy was amazing, he refered me to a book called "the power of now" which i have never read, but from what he was telling me, even this man who i worked along side with had a much larger grip of reality than i did

and the funny thing is, no matter how cracked out his ideas seemed, it all made sense when i thought it over

i think you can imagine nothing, by just saying the word, and thinking what if there was NOTHING. you cant visualize or describe it though.

no, colours, its physically impossible to imagine something that youve never experienced or seen (it, or any other person's depiction)

since a human has never experienced nothing, and has only experienced somewthing (caus if they experienced nothing.. then they wouldnt be experiencing anything!)

no matter how hard you try, you can only conceptualise nothing, which is what we are all doing here, but not concieve or imagine it.

go ahead and try and imagine a colour outside of our visible spectrum. we know there are colours there, every frequency is a different colour. what do they look like? impossible to tell, or imagine (though in that subject, its a bit skewed in terms of lsd use, people reporting to see colours theyve never seen before, but i cant really use them as truths or as simply misconceptions)

and colors are light, when you look at something you see whatever color it is because that's the color it reflects the most, so your eye catches it, so both of our statements were pretty much the same :)

I'm probably wrong about this, but damnit that's what my sience teacher said, it's not my fault, I go to a stupid little redneck public school :(

well, i guess i meant that you can say there is nothing outside of the universe, and understand that, by understanding that the universe takes up the whole picture. it can expand, but it doesnt expand into anything. the universe is all there is, so nothing is outside of it. Not "nothing" but the universe doesnt have an outside for there to be nothing.

you guys should read up on m-theory and/or string theory. they can be kinda confusing but u might be able to find some answers to ur universe questions.

well, we are already making TINY blackholes in science labs, so if that gives you any indication, it should ultimately be possible to warp space and/or "time" travel.

but i bet our species will be extinct before that happens.

i dont think the "black holes" that they create in labs are actual black holes though
