I dont know any natural ways but if it hasnt been longer than 72 hours, you can get the day after pill [I, myself, dont consider that abortion anyways...but everyone has a different point of view on it]

Are you married, or in a long term relationship? Im not going to try to push what I believe on anyone, but if you are [and it says youre 23] maybe you should consider keeping the baby if you ARE pregnant.

Also, How long has it been since your first day of your period when you had sex without protection? The whole fertility guaging isnt the best way to do it, but your chances of being pregnant if you just got over your period, or had it... are a lot less.

If I were you, first I would get a pregnancy test done... you dont want to take any kind of pill or anything if you dont have to...you may not even be pregnant. find out first. getting a blood test at the Doctor's is more accurate than home tests, and usually can determine pregnancy almost right away. I'd suggest doing that FIRST, and if you are and it hasnt been more than 72 hours, and you're willing to try it, I'd ask the doctor about the day after pill.

Try not to worry, whats done is done, if you have gone more than 72 hours the morning after pill wont work and there is nothing else available, your next step should be to forget about it untill you due on, if you period is late, test (its hard to get accurate results before then) theres no need to worrry before you know, i know its hard not to, im going thru the same thing right now, but worrying can stop your period comming, drives us mad ay. one thing i will say to you is if you find you are pregnant, and you choose an abortion, dont go the herbal route, you may think its natural but it rarely works well, and can often deform the baby horribly, and if you think it hasnt worked and change your mind, you will have to face that. go to a reputable clinic and do it safely. i do not advocate abortion but if you choose it i'd want you to be safe.

    Goodluck.xxx

It floods the body with hormones and poisons the fetus dead.

I think that its not a fetus "the morning after". Even if the egg has been fertilized, the term would be "embryo." "Fetus" is the term later in pre-natal development.

I also think that the morning after pill does not directly effect the embryo, but prevents implantation. I could easily be wrong on the second point.

It prevents implantation of a fertilized egg, and also can prevent you from actually ovulating, if you haven't already. It can only be used in the 72 hours after the unprotected intercourse. There is no "fetus" there isn't even an embryo, there isn't even a "pregnancy" since nothing is implanted in the uterine lining. Plan B (a brand name of morning after pills) doesn't "poison" anything, it simply prevents pregnancy similarly to how the BC pill does. And Plan B is nothing more than a larger than normal dose of Birth Control Pillls. You can ask your doctor or Planned Parenthood Clinic for a prescription for them. There is a link at the top of this forum, but we have had a complaint about access to it, so you are probably better off seein PP or a doctor.

And Plan B is NOT the "abortion pill" (RU487) this only works on already implanted pregnancies and is MUCH harder on the body, RU487 is NOT a "morning after pill" is actually induces an early abortion. And you need ongoing medical care during and after it's use.

it can be effective in two ways:
    1. it inhibits ovulation (if you're about to release an egg, and the sperm is still alive inside you, the sperm cannot fertilize an egg).
    2. it effects the endometrium, to prevent a potentially fertilized egg from attaching itself to the wall of the uterus.

    Cool :D

Did they mention it in health class?

I don't think it was even in the health book.

My guess is they didn't mention it in "Health" class. The two of my kids who have had HS "health" and "sex education" were given the stupid "Abstinence only" program, which is useless.

dont be scared of sex.. just make sure you have is responsibly. Wear a condom, and if you are going out with the girl, talk about birthcontrol or the depo shot with her..

sex is a fun experience.. nothing to be scared of.. just be responsible. ;)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Susan Weed- Wise Women's Herbal for the Childbearing Years. While knowing that natural methods aren't as foolproof as the Planned Parenthood route... try picking up the book and reading the section on ammennoreah (SP?) also check out the suggestions for using vitamin c, and ginger for pregnancy prevention. I know it sounds odd but I was two weeks late before I was ready to be a mom. I tried a combination of large amounts of ginger and vitamin c every hour and henceforth had extremely intense cramps and got my period within two days.
I will specify that I am NOT a medical professional. Please do your own research and don't just take my word for it. It is sad though that this knowlege, like knowledge of so many other things that have been medicalized has been hidden from us. Where is the wise woman in every village who knows this stuff?

Yeah, you have to do it backwards while counting to 100, on one foot.

I guess I lucked out, because we got decent information on birth control. It was the drug lecture that they did really a really shitty job on.

I don't remember learning about the morning after pill, though. I had to find out about that by reading Hemingway (the weird things I learn about reading contemporary literature). But I didn't know people still took it.
