    BACKGROUND:
I smoked mucho MJ while I was 17-23. From 17-20 I smoked with my mates, 4 of us would go through 1/2 ounce per week, at the minimum. Age 20-23 I smoked an ounce per month, then started growing my own. I highly recommend gardening : ). Currently, I only smoke a few times a year, and try to avoid the 'what is this meth! or crack! shit, cause I only took one hit and I am flying' stuff. ( I don't know if this is because I am now perpetually high, due to the quantities of THC affecting my brain neurons for so many years or because of the hybrids.) But I digress.

    OVERVIEW:
Let me explain, this 'sleep trip' experience, since this never happened after I quit smoking the green on a regular basis. For years, starting at 17, I would, on occasion, experience what I call a 'sleep trip'.

    CIRCUMSTANCE:
I would go to sleep, sober, then wake up. Except I was not awake, because, I could not move any part of my body. I know I was conscience, since I could hear and see happenings going on, then the next day, confirm what happened that evening when I talked to folks that were awake while I slept.

    RESULT:
I kind of felt like I was dead. Not a bad thing. Just really weird. Actually, this kind of pissed me off, like when your arm goes numb after you sleep on it for a few hours, you really would like to use your arm, but you are quite unable, since it is 'dead'.

I've explained this to my mates but they never knew WTF I was talking about.

I found this forum and thought I would post this experience. Anyone expericence this type of 'sleep trip'?

theres a name for that condition and i forgot what it is called. What happens is a chemical is realeased in your body during the third stage of REM sleep and this chemical temporarily paralisis your body so you dont act out your dreams. What happened to you is you simply woke up while under this temporary paralisis. It probally had nothing to do with smoking weed BTW.

Yeah, but back to his point... it's called 'sleep paralysis'. You can look it up now. I'm afraid I don't know much about it other than what it's called but I know a few people who have experienced it.

its called by sleep paralysis a out of body experience or astral projection can be caused by it
it has nothing to do with weed or "tripping"

Alright, 'sleep paralysis'. Followed your link and behold, sleeping while being awake. Good to know others are experienced in this realm.

Definitely has a relation to MJ with me, though. Sleep, sleep, get high... Sleep, sleep, get high... am I awake, am I asleep... anyway, I have not had an 'episode' for quite some time.

Bummer that a previous poster never tripped while getting high smoking MJ. I would consider many of my experiences while high as 'tripped out'. Not as good as L, but quite trippy, none the less.

    :)

ADDENDUM: (googled the subject, after the few responses)
Seems the massive amounts of smoke I toked may have had an affect on sleep depravity, and consequently, I experienced 'sleep paralysis'. Seems quite reasonable, since I am quite unable to sleep while high.

    Cheers to you all.
