That's like asking should I listen to ONLY stuff like Laurence Welk now that I'm over 40 years old. Being a hippie, to me, is allowing myself the liberty to listen to whatever I please, even if it's not rock and roll. Wanting to belong in a specific social group is one thing. Allowing the group to dictate your true personality or limiting your options is another.
i'm so nonconformist that I'm not going to conform with the conformist idea that you can be "open to all music"
Well listen to what you like but why not try to listen some beatles, pink floyd, led zeppelin , simon and garfunkel ... Well you know if Ozzy and that stuff turns you on well that's perfect and you must listen to what you like ... Man i'm so moralistic right now ...
did u mean jefferson airplane I think that u should listen to what u like..i also think u should be open to exploring newer music..and i think that is what u r trying to do here... Everyone always suggests classic rock bands and 60's bands.... But what about JAMBANDS & PROG ROCK.... I would say check out archive.org and download a whole bunch of music and enjoy! Some of my favorite bands include : Talking heads, Frank Zappa, Groovatron, Moe, Mars Volta, Polyphonic spree, keller williams, particle.....just to name a few!!!
I listen to Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Joplin, the Doors, The Who, The Beatles, The Stones, Clapton, Marley, Dylan, Blue Oyster Cult (with two dots on top) lol, Crosby Stills and Nash (and sometimes Young) Boston,Guns N' Roses, ACDC, Judas Priest, and i think thats all i can think of for now....
hippys listen to rock music. however, they dont really "rock" they just kinda groove along at a boring druged up pace.
Janis Joplin rocks! I agree with mamo... dude, listen to whatever you dig...try not to label yourself too much
My Bro (i take tha risk to call u bro) ... you're a average hippie... To Be a real hippie you've got to take a step back in those magic days were hippies were like flowers in you're grandma's spring garden... Music to trip (hallucinogen) is the music that is really hippie... -Some old Byrd records (from 66 to 68)... -Or Jefferson Airplane "Surrealistic Pillow" album (67) -The Led Zepellin Album until 1975 - Deep Purple only real psychedelic album "Fireball" (1971) -or if you like better metal try psychedelic metal as Black Sabbath album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" (1973) ...there's too many album...i can write 200 more jewels to discover... have a good listen bro.
