Attila the Hun did not destroy the Roman empire. He might have ended up doing so if he had not died, but that is just another historical "what if". As it stands pope Leo I (successor to pope six up) met with him in private and convinced him not to attack Rome. How he did this is not known, but it is likely that he bought him off. This gave the pope great prestige in Rome and is one the important factors in the rise of the Roman papal office to supreme power over the western Church. Attila's meeting with the pope occured after the Battle of Chalons, at which Attila's forces were smashed and scattered throughout Gaul. This indicates that despite western views of the battle of Chalons as the battle that turned back Attila it really just slowed him down by a year. Too bad for Attila he died that winter. p.s. There was never a pope six up, that was a joke.
Not my 'favourite' (that would be sick), but the evil person that makes me cringe the most is Pol-Pot and the Khmer Rogue in general. No one ever made it out alive of the infamous prison camp; S-21. Check out all the skulls and what used to happen in that place; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-21 And the equally as infamous 'killing fields': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killing_Fields Makes me judder, though im biased since i'm going backpacking in cambodia in a few months!
i don't know who is my favorite evil person. vlad the impaler was a good one that someone mentioned. he was downright evil. adolf hitler because he made those great propaganda films, posters, and postcards. still an evil and terrible man, though. im gonna say a new one and say Charles Manson. i don't know what is so fascinating about the man. i guess evil cult leaders fascinate me. the guy is just so addictive. you just wanna learn more about him.
Constantine: Not only does Jesus get crucified, but Rome then uses his teachings to enslave the minds of the West and invert its revolutionary character to legitimize the Empire and its successor states.
It was followed by natural disasters. Can't put everything on Mao. But at the same time, not everything on natural disasters. Before the revolution, people died like flies and famines were frequent. At least life expectancy went up, infant mortality was drastically reduced. Did you know that, in 1949, only 15 percent of the Chinese population could read and write, but in 1957, the number of people able to read and write was 80 percent. That means 100's of millions of Chinese learned the art of reading and writing. Western "sources" wary between 20 million and 100 million (ridiculous of course). How can such numbers be taken seriously when they wary with 80 million?
adolf.... a scary, intelligent man who used wagner's music and parading, he was actually a very spiritual guy, but could focus the energies on an evil way, that scares the shit out of me.
The most scary people ever were 1ol Pot 2:Idi Amin 3:Stalin 4: hitler 5:Nero 6:Osama Bin Laden(and Al Zarqawi) 7:Saddam Hussain 8:General Mladic(or and Karadic) 9:The leaders of the masacres in Africa(Rwanda, Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone) 10:The American republicans
George Bush is an evil ****. Not my favourite evil person, but his stupidity really does frighten me.
Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush. It is not only presidente Bush. It is also half of the US who voted for him. And ofcourse the generals and the senate who all aprove his actions. Bush is only the PR man from the republicans who likes guns and war.
Osama Bin Laden, he did evil things and probably will do much worse things in the future. He is my favorite not because he is evil, which a lot of people in the world don't think he is, but because he is someone who realized that men make history. He was someone who decided to do something and then did it. I am sure many people would have told him that what he invisoned was impossible, but that is what makes the "great" people in history. True heros don't have to do heroic things. True heros are the people who push the bonderies of what is possible. They do what others think can't be done. This is what Osama Bin Laden did. He changed the world and America forever, brought America into a war in the Middle-East, and did what no one thought could be done. This man with no major army or nation was able to do what others whole nations could not even do. Strike America hard and where it hurts and then to top it off, get away with it. He is still out there and will strike again. The lesson that is thought by great people in history is that the possible is only what has been done so far.
"Osama bin Laden" ...? please! stop watching tv if you honestly believe that Osama brought America into a war with Islam! *** as for me, I've always had a thing for Genghis Khan. riding on horseback while conquering and murdering the nations you travel through is such a pleasing thought..
Yes he did. He was the one who financed the attack on the NY WTC. And please don't say it was Bush. It was Osama. A vicious attack on innocent people. Only because there is a millitairy base in Saudi-Arabia (Thanks to Bush Sr) and the support of the Israeli government. And you also don't have to forget that the Terrorist are fighting a Jihad to conquer the world and make it Islamic. Which is written in the Qur'an. And the Extreme islamic movement of Wahabism in who's opinion is that all non Muslims should die or become muslim. Bush escallated it and made it a bigger problem then it already was but don't say Osama is innocent because that is betraying all civillians that have died at 911. The world would be an other place without that attack.
