Went to Wal-Mart and got refused entry, again.

Asked to see their International Policy Banning People Without Footwear and was told the Manager would retrieve it from the computer.

Spent over an hour shopping while I waited for the Manager to access the document.

Finally said that she knew it existed, but she would have to send it to me after talking to Brett over the weekend. Brett must be her boss.

Gave them my name, address and phone number so they can contact me about this important piece of legislation.

I told them I would immediately turn this over to the ACLU as this is clearly discrimination.

How many others have met with this policy at Wal-Mart?

Go man, go. I didn't get any grief when I went to Wal-Mart barefoot last, but I just picked up a 12 pack of Mountain Dew. I find it ridiculous that she is willing to go that far to keep you out of the store barefoot; it's also quite funny how she is standing by it being a law. Maybe store policy, but not state (or even national) law.

I never knew there was such a thing as an International Policy Banning People Without Footwear... im interested in it now..

I once went to Wal Mart with a group of friends, and since I was barefoot the door greeter told me that I couldnt come inside because it was against health code regulations.. I wasnt going inside to shop, I was just gonna go inside with my friends while they bought whatever it was they went in for..

I go barefoot all the time at home and sometimes in public, but this particular time I was barefoot because we'd been at a wedding rehearsal all evening, and I, unfortunately, was not wearing comfortable shoes. I had taken them off as soon as we left the rehearsal and I hadnt brought my other pair of shoes with me.. So there was no way I was going to put them back on just to go into Wal Mart..

...A friggin' minimum-wage door greeter at Walmart, and they expect that anyone's gonna believe that they have read and are familiar with the HEALTH CODE REGULATIONS?!

It'd be hilarious to ask them how they claim to know what is contained in the Health Code. (That is usually the point where they change tack, and start talking instead about "store policy" -- giving lie to the former claim that it was about a health regulation.)

But really, who the hell believes that these morons have any familiarity whatsover with what is or is not contained in the Health Code?! I myself have never even seen the reference book that contains it!

    Blue skies,
    -Jeffrey

im pro barefoot, but not so much in the suburbs and the city. there are good reasons you shouldnt go barefoot in most public places, walmart being one of those places..and you shouldnt expect them to change their policies for you either....with water theres a potential for you slipping, chemicals on the floor can burn you...a dropped glass item not 100 pecent cleaned up can cut you, or you could drop a sharp item on your foot....all this and communal diseases/warts shared with other people who choose to go to walmart barefoot.

if your at the park, go barefoot...if your at home, go barefoot...even just out on your street, go barefoot...when your in a store...put your shoes on

    and finally...boo on wal-mart.

I gotta ask: What are the chances of you actually encountering one of those hazards? Seriously, you make it sound like a store is some sort of death trap if you're barefoot.

    your right, i compleltey agree.

and what are the chances of you not noticing someone mopping a floor and that the floor is wet...not that great, but ya still gotta put up the wet floor sign.

we've bred a societty where one sues at whim, and oftens wins. if you barely nudge a car, suddnely the dirvers neck hurts...burglars can sue homeowners if their hurt during a robbery...walmart doenst give a rats ass if you cut your feet, chemically burn them, drop something on them, or get athletes foot from someones elses sweat...they just don't want you to sue them.

It is very unlikely that you will get some kind of foot fungus or disease by walking around barefoot...

    Guys,

Remember, PEOPLE ARE STUPID!! They will walk on a wet floor even though there is a sign up that says "Wet Floor - Piso Mojado". Also, ppl don't care about stepping on stuff because they know they'll get compensated for it. That is why there are so many stupid rules in place. Yes there are other countries where ppl normally go barefooted but its because ppl don't sue. So if you want more freedom in this country STOP SUING!!!

Just the some of the points I've been trying to make in the earlier thread.

Hmm, looks like I'm not alone at all.

Well slipping is not a valid excuse. People slip much easier with shoes on because they dont know they are walking in water and when you are barefoot you can feel the water and walk more careful.

Just saw a guy slip on someone spilled drink (no ice) at albertsons. They had just called for a cleanup when this middle aged guy came in with shoes and slipped and fell on it. He got up and was fine but his wife was like "He just had a surgery if hes not ok I am sewing."

Its their store. If they don't want barefoot money, its their dicision(sp?). Our freedom to choose to go barefoot depends on their freedom to choose to not serve whom they please. And vice versa.

I've been boycotting Walmart for about 2 and a half years, but we went to one on the way to Bonnaroo. I walked around barefoot for about 2 hours and didn't have a problem. We even stopped to talk to a security guard for about 10 about Bonnaroo and everyone that was going to be there and stuff. She just told me she liked my hat.... I was wearing it even though I hadn't paid for it yet...she said it was Minnie Pearlish. :D

I was wearing a long skirt, though....it might help it you wore jeans instead of shorts. Or barefoot sandals... *shameless plug*

ok just gotta say about getting athlete's foot from other people's sweat

that would imply that either other people were walking around barefoot in the store, or they were slithering around naked on the floor

I go everywhere barefoot, when i came to school barefoot though, they said it was against the law for me to do so. It really sucks, and it's weird that they would care, if i wanna get MY feet dirty, i can! haha

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

yes...other people...thats the whole point. if they were going to change the rules about barefooting in walmart, they wouldnt limit it to one barefooter each day.....there would potentially be other people walking around barefoot.

    this concept confuses you?

If your argument against bare feet in Walmart is about getting athlete's feet or warts, you lose right there. First of all, you don't get athlete's foot if you leave your feet bare. Athlete's foot fungus has to live and grow in a confined, dark, moist, warm environment -- your shoes.

Next, why would it be required of Walmart to forbid bare feet in order to protect its customers from athlete's foot, but not a gym with showers where athlete's foot may be spread? What lets the gym off the hook? Maybe it's not a business's responsibility to keep people from getting athlete's foot after all.

Also, Walmart does not require people to wear gloves in their stores, but if you could so easily get warts from walking barefoot on the floors, you could get them on your hands from pushing the same shopping cart that someone with warts on his hands pushed.

None of your arguments holds up to even the slightest logical scrutiny.
