I was smoking pot one day, and BOOM- it hit me. ...did not recognize the extent to which the 1960's 'youth revolution' had terrified our ruling elite, or that they would try to prevent future upsurges of radical Utopianism by deliberately 'dumbing down' the educational system. what they have produced, the so-called 'generation x', must rank as not only the most ignorant but also the most paranoid and depressive kids ever to infest our republic. of course, the paranoia and depression result inevitably from the ignorance. these kids not only don't know anything; they don't even want to know. they only realize, vaguely, that somebody has fucked them out of something, but they don't have enough zest or bile to try to find out who fucked them and what they were fucked out of.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you to an extent, another part of the problem is that parents have basically had their nuts cut, or think they have at least. All this "time-out" bs instead of a good old fashioned ass spankin has got kids thinkin that they don't have to listen to their parents cause they can't do anything other than yell. I always enjoy the you can't touch me or I'll send ya to jail lines I hear about once in a while. Parents need to take an slam their kid up against wall the FIRST time they talk back/disobey, show em who's boss, then maybe they'll listen.
Yes, I concur; the 20-30 year olds of today are such pussies. After them, we have this young, wanker generation of teenagers at the moment. I am, sadly, part of this generation. The luckiest people in the world are obviosuly the baby boomers.
Use your spell check or something, please. That was a trainwreck to try to read and understand. I'm 32 and would like to see you tell me to my face that I'm a pussy...heheheheh!!!!!! I will change your thoughts quickly. The 80's has a major part to do with the "lack" of direction of most gen Xer's . The Regan/Bush era was one of gluttony and not much was left for the future generation. My generation is the first in a long time to have it worse than thier parents. What I have noticed is, is that alot of todays kids think they have it all figured out and they don't. Today's teenagers are probably the least intelligent people that I meet on a day to day basis. Lack of education and concern for thier future is a big problem also.
While this is a generalization, it is true that active steps were taken by the establishment after the 60s to deny a whole generation it's right to power. The same assholes in power then are in power now (or their kids, and you know who I mean). It started with COINTELPRO, which was a government conspiracy to spy on and subvert legitimate organizations like the SDS, even murder was sanctioned. It also included such high spots as Ronald Reagan's "If it's a bloodbath they want, that's what they'll get", in response to student protests while governor of Calif. just before he sent in Nat'l Guard troops to shoot unarmed students in Berkeley. (yeah, wasn't reagan such a wonderful guy). And of course Kent State was another proud moment in American History. So when I see young people standing in line to "honor" people like Reagan, I realize America has failed to learn anything in the last 35 years. In fact we've now taken several steps backwards thanks to the republican conspiracy to rewrite history & teach it to naive young Americans. That is THE MAIN reason I started Hippy.com and wrote my book, Hippies From A to Z. To explain what really went down and to confront these lies that were being taught and hopefully to help reignite the movement before it was consigned to a paragraph of lies in a history textbook. I guess I've failed since my book is out-of-print, and the lies are piled higher than ever... And now we're in the midst of another war in a far off country based on lies as our young people die daily so the rich can get richer, and Americans can have cheap gas to fill up their SUVs. When will we ever learn?
Well said Skip. Our govenment will never fully allow it's own people to have a say in the way this country is run. Elections and the false appearance of a society that is free, is the biggest smoke screen out there!!! The way Bush was NOT elected into office is a perfect example of a government that wants ALL control. Our govenment has learned from the past that we will eventually rise up against them, but I don't see it coming anytime soon. Once Americans stop worrying about how the LOOK to other countries and focus more on the problems we have here, than maybe a change will come. Republicans are going to be the demise of this country. As long as thier wallets are fat, the concerns of thier own constituants mean nothing. Quality of life has no pertinance here....we are falling apart. I am getting ready to make a move to Canada (8 months and counting), not because I don't love the U.S., because I am tired of Big Brother........ I'm tired of people in our government that wouldn't spit on me if they saw me on the street, telling what is and is not good for me. I got some news for these bloated fuckers, putting innocent people in danger is NOT good for this country. If it wasn't for the oil, no one would give a rat's ass if these countries were fighting each other.
no skip, you havent failed. this hipforums is one of the greatest things, THE greatest thing on the internet. it's brought so many people together. if i had an accomplishment like that (starting hipforums.com), i would feel very accomplished, satisfied. after all, one man cant really change the world, but you gave us the organization we needed to at least come together to perhaps become even more organized.
my god you are so right.. but if you think they are bad you have no idea what their kids are like. the public education system really is a joke now, and will be one of the core factors in what i see being part of the core to the fall of this country. i know firsthand, i made my way through highschool failing almost every class all year. summer school is really just a place where you sit for 2 or 4 hours.. rarely do you do any real work at all. i had teachers that would start class a half hour late and end it a half hour early when it is a 2 hour class, and just talk and socialize with the troublesome outspoken hoodlums that would make class an enviroment impossible to learn in. most of the summerschool teachers seemed to be new teachers, maybe that has something to do with it. but school is now a place where their are 2 man groups of students, the ones who to an extent care about grades and the ones who dont. the ones who dont provide most of the entertainment with amusing immature antics and other rebellious behavior. they are glamorized in the school world and as the years go on the majority of people tend to go downhill. but anyway. people in my generation are lazy as shit, they either are way to materialistic and generally terrible humans whose lives are based around an obsession with unhealthy social worlds of overactive mating and drug consumption.. or they are people who dont care about anything, hardly have morals, have no drive for anything, and a drug habit. *everyone* at least smokes pot or drinks often. another fact i think contributes to the overall dumbening of our country as all the convinience. people who grew up in the 90s had everything handed to them because their parents worked hard for it. the working parent is also absent at home and in guidance quite a bit these days to. life is lived in front of a screen these days... 4th graders with buddy lists of over 100 people, cell phones, total intenet freedom. sorry this isnt really coherent but i am high and jus read this and started typing but yeah things are goin downhill is all...
