for those of you who dont know, friday, supreme court justice sandra dae oconner retired. now, president bush has to appoint a new justice. justice oconner was the slightly left wing swing vote. she helped keep abortion legal, and the ten commandments off of federal buildings. if bush appoints a right wing extremist, you can expect to be praying in school. please, urge president bush, as well as your federal senators who have to approve bush's appointment to nominate a consensus justice!
Dammit, I'm moving out of the US as soon as I can... we can't get anything right, our government reeks of corruption, and we are a globally arrogant superpower who tries to push everyone around. See you in Canada, Britain, Australia, or some other English speaking, democratic country.
no, its just our government doesnt make american world news, cause american world news is stuff in the middle east and maybe europe... and JungleFungus...canada is not english speaking...we are english AND french speaking
AhahAHha you Americans make me feel special. Trevor is right, though. I think we're a nice little.. err.. big country.
darn tooting im right... :H i love in America how the balance and check to the executive branch of power is appointed by the executive branch
if they seriously "force" you to pray in school...[hey, i used to have to do the Lord's Prayer every monday in elementary school]... you can just...not, is that so radical? i think that statement [the one about praying] is just as stupid as trying to get "God" out of the pledge of alleigence...Hell, our country's national anthem is a spiritual hymn, so shut it...
IF all the thinkers and people with a positive outlook on life leave the ship it really is doomed.. or rather the potential for change could become an impossibility... but I can't say I blame you.
no, i have had to pray in school before. and whether you think it's bullshit or not doesn't matter, because this country was founded on freedom of religion. and that is why it's bullshit. don't tell me i have freedom of religion when it says "in god we trust" on every denomination of currency, i have to swear on the bible in court, and i am forced to say the pledge of allegiance at school. i have been suspended 3 times for not reciting the pledge. so fuck you and fuck this fucked up corrupted shit hole of a country.
some bitch face tried to force me to say the pledge of allegiance one time. its illegal if anyone forces you to.
ok...the country i live in is an official mulitcultural country...what does that say...still, in grade 3 and probobly again in grade 5 i was given a NT with psalms and proverbs [well now i use it, but back then and in jr high i was "wtf"]... technically, swearing on the bible is against the bible too...i dont know which part is is, but i think it was a part of the sermon on the mount...let your yes be yes, and your no be no... acctually your country wasnt founded on freedom of religion...it was founded on freedom from the british empire...and the freedom to practice religion is in the constitution, as is the freedom to congegrate... my parliment recently passed the bill to make recognise same sex unions...my provinces premier is against it [as he is a redneck bigot who has in a drunken rage thrown coins at homless people, shouting at them to get jobs...has said to "shoot shovel and shut up" about the BSE crisis among other idiotic insane things] he wants to get rid of the Alberta marrige Act to make marrige a church/religious insitution... hell, our school had Bible study on wednesdays at lunch...why? because some peopel asked if they could, and the principal ssaid yes...does it hurt anyone? no... it doesnt...i bet if i found someone to talk about, whatever, Baha'i lets say cause i know there is a chapter of that faith in my town, they would have to say yes... yeah...really... http://www.atheists.org/publicschools/faqs.prayer.html#silence haha, are you opposed to a "moment of silence" too? this whole "prayer in school is brainwashing our children" thing is totally wack...Heck...in denver there was a "Merry Christmas" sign above city hall, then "activists" forced them to change it to "Happy Holidays" cause it supposedly offended some Jewish people or something...EXCEPT the town hall had never received a complaint... one could also argue that being athiest is a religion [even though it isnt, but it could be argued] and that NOT having prayer in school is forcing their beliefs on the other religious groups... im not for having forced prayer, but geez, let the kids do what they want...
