i only have one apron top, and i got it for free at a festie... its not a very well made top, its just a peice of cloth with thick-ish rope as ties... i got some compliements on it, but mostly bad looks.. but im not sure why.

i weigh about 155 lbs, and i have kinda small boobs (B's!).. i kinda have a gut.. so im not sure the apron top look is for me. but i only have that one poorly made apron top to judge how i look.

so what do you guys think? although, i prolly would wear an apron top, even if it did look bad on me.. as long as i liked it, i guess.

but i guess my question is, am i too fat to wear an apron top?

    thanks guys!

    NEVER!!!
you just need one that compliments yer shape...we are all shaped differently and sometimes apron tops that say they will "fit all" totally wont...one wrong cut and you look like a lumpy tater in a sack..
with a tummy you need a-lines in my opinion...an a-line cut is super flattering..or at least a lil gathering along the bottom of the bodice...too much can make yer tummy look worse but just enough can be quite nice indeedie!
I clearly know too much about this...i still blame my gut on my kids tho.....
    even 2 years later :H

    hope this mad rambling helps

You are so not too fat to wear an apron top....I am considerably bigger than you and older and gravity is winning the battle with my breasts, and yup I'm wearing one this Summer ( can't think who made it for me:rolleyes: )

peacelovebarefeet and lucyinthesky....you guys can pull off the apron top thing. if you do a bit of looking around chances are you will find on the looks really snazzy on you. chest size doesn't matter. i look like a little girl in them because i'm flat-chested and all gangly and skinny but i don't care...they're comfy. it's all about how they make you feel. i have total confidince in you guys....find one you like and wear it with pride! i've seen mamas of all different shapes and sizes wear them and i always think, "Wow! they look totally beautiful!" that's the joy of this kind of thing, they're made for everyone. :D

I sincerely doubt that I would look good in an apron top. I don't even look good in tank tops because my arms are so fat. And the rest of me is just as big. However, today I saw a woman who made me look small. She had to be all of 500 pounds. The tops of her legs were at least 40 inches around. Her belly hung down to her knees. And she was wearing a spaghetti strap baby doll top. The top was pink and she had orangey/red hair. I am very large, 300 pounds. But she made me feel very small. Anyway, the point of all this is to say that I don't think everyone would look good in an apron top. I'd love one, but I don't think it would work for me.

Kathi, as a fellow big woman (I weigh about 2001bs) I have to say I think it depends on the top. The orange pink lady you saw wore a spaghetti top and I think that is a no-no for those of us with big arms, the fragility of the top makes your arms look like giant hams LOL. But if you have a more substantial apron top, that has enough room in the bodice I think it would be fine. Having said that, my husband loves an old black vest top with the dreaded spagehetti strings that I picked up in a charity shop, he thinks I look great in it....personally I would never wear it out of the house!

    Hello.

I think you should wear things you like, regardless of what the "standard" is. If you like apron tops, but are on the voluptuous side, so be it. Be proud of who you are and how you look. People come in all differnt sizes and that is what makes us beautiful. Find tops that flatter the figure you have and show off your beautiful size.

See i have that wider shoulder problem too....big time, and fat arms. i can't stand it. So all tank tops and tube tops and apron tops look retardo-lombardo on me. And it's not that im trying to meet someone else's standards, it's that i'm physically uncomfortable in them. Apron tops like really squish my boobs in a weird way and make them sweaty. lol yum, who wants to rub my nipples now huh?

Now one of the crafty ladies on here, I can't remember, make a great top with little darted pockets for the more *um* busty ladies. I really liked it.

ok lucy, i had to go and look at your gallery for this 'wide shoulders and fat arms' theory...lol...and i do see that you have the wide shoulders, just like me...doubt your arms are fat, they may, like mine be bigger than most girls' arms (at least for my size that is)...but i wear tank tops anyways! i don't know about an apron top though. i've never worn one but my boobs are pretty squishable (but small) so maybe it would be uncomfortable.
